I noticed that a new iOS version of the Connnected app was released yesterday (v5.6.0) after what seems like an eternity.

I've not had a chance to try it with the bike yet but very much hoping they've finally managed to fix the connection reliability issues that has plagued the app for the best part a year whereby consistently establishing and maintaining a connection between phone and TFT for navigation, speed limit display and ride logging was a bit of a lottery.

Thanks for the heads up. I thought it was just me that was experiencing these issues and the only help the dealer could offer was to delete and redownload the app.

Follow-up now I've had a chance to get out and ride a few times. Since the OP, the iOS app has had a revision to v5.6.1.

- App appears to connect to iPhone reliably and record rides- huzzzah!
- A couple of oddities when accessing the app after the ride, but nothing terminal.

On the iPhone my wife and I have noticed it randomly changes from miles to kilometres with both our phones/bikes.

I’ve just checked the recent reviews on the App Store and lots of people reporting the same.

Ours also still have the same bug where the last update time changes to last year, even just a few minutes after showing the correct update time. Mine always goes back to 16/04/24 - the manufacture date of the bike was 12/08/24 so it didn’t even exist in April last year!

Ha ha
Connectivity issues go back to day 1 - it’s much improved but still full of problems

I wonder how many people are working on this App………just 1 poor kid in a corner m@ybe

There’s a massive testing community actually.
Beta versions are run through Testbirds multiple times before final releases are done.
I’ve spent the last 4 months running this release in various betas. Rock solid and still is.
Not everything gets fixed because of BMW corporate unfortunately. So the public release often isn’t 100% of what we tested.

Hi there. I have the connected app but it is still buggy. It seems to loose track when recording journeys and using Kilometres in place of miles. Anyone experienced these problems? Regards to all...

Mine also seemed to "reset" itself to kilometres recently - so had to reset it to show miles instead in the settings. Wouldn't call that "buggy" though.

Haven't personally had the issue with loosing track on journey's though of late - has happened on occasion in the past when I've lost the phone signal for a few miles or so, but thats not the apps fault

Mine's still flakey- iOS 18.6.2 and app v5.6.1.

I've also been seeing the km default, but I still have the core functionality & connection issues. Just back from a ride consisting of three legs where I stopped for fuel or leg stretch, and without changing anything or touching the phone it recorded the second leg and showed speed limits properly, but the other two legs weren't recorded and the speed limits on the TFT were displayed as a 'stuck' 30 and '--' respectively.

The app is a 'nice to have' for me, and not a necessity, so I can live without it, but it's been pretty piss-poor the last year or so.

I'm getting the reset to Km's from miles, daily. annoying but manageable. hope they fix it though. Apart from that it seems much more consistent than before, it used to miss parts of journeys and add "as the crow flies" lines in places, none of that going on now.

It definitely still misses bits of rides.

My wife and I are 100 miles into a ride, both on 1300GSs. Bike, iPhone and BMW app software are all same versions.

Hers has recorded the full 100 mile up to lunch stop. Mine only recorded the first 26 miles before speed limits stopped being displayed and the recording stopped (even though it still says recording in progress). Both of us still suffer the random change to km.

Come to think of it, it could be the phone update that made the BT connection better, I changed to IOS 26 at a similar time.

Exactly the same issue with me this weekend - recorded the first 80 odd miles but then stopped recording anything afterwards for the rest of the day (approx another 90 miles).

I only managed to record about 20% of my Ireland trip last month due to its glitchiness & was hoping that the latest update would solve this issue before I head down to Bergerac in a couple of weeks - looks like I might have to subscribe to Scenic instead...

This is what it got out of a 250 mile ride. Coming back was even worse. Scenic captured everything. I now have over 20k miles recorded in Scenic with no issues.

What I noticed a few times is that when starting the bike I get the white box with speed limit, but it disappears after either a few minutes, or sometimes 30 miles.

The odd thing is that I was in Portugal in June and it recorded every one of the 3,000 miles in a couple of weeks without a single issue. However, out of the 4 of us there wasn’t a single day where all 4 bikes/phones recorded everything.

The point it stops/starts recording doesn’t even coincide with turning the bike on/off. It’s completely random.

Anyone notice that it uses an inordinate amount of power? It cooks an iPhone 16 (fat one too), and draws more than the onboard usb can serve up. 20 miles and a massive heat load that the phone doesn’t like charging at.

I’ve not had that. My wife and I have both done 8 hours of riding using iPhone 15 Pro Max phones with BMW Connected and Scenic running and had about 20-30% battery remaining (phones not on any form of charger).

We use Chigees (formerly the 5” ones but since June the 6” Max versions), so the phone screens are off and the phones are in the storage compartments on the tank of our R1300GSs.

When we have them charging on the wireless charging pads we’ve put in our storage compartments the phones maintain 100% charge. We only installed them mid July and have only done about 1500 miles, but they even worked fine on that stupidly hot weekend where the temperatures were 35+.
