Trying to get a Gen3 iPad set up for friends wife's birthday and it just hasn't any wifi speed. Took over 4 hours to download Skype from app store.
I've got the ipad2 and it's working fine on same network.

Is there a problem still with wifi with latest iPad?

Our download speed is under 1 mb.

My iPad 3 wi fi fine? :thumb2

My download speed is 5-6 meg

The app store is useless though, most of the time I can't get anything at all to download - keep getting 'not now josephine' message

sounds like you need to visit the apple store.

on o2 by any chance?

been having the same issue for weeks until i moved from o2's DNS servers. all good again now.

No problems, I've got a 2 and 3.

What I have found is that apple products don't work at all on some wifi channels and better on some than others. Try going into the router and change the channel rather than it just being on auto which is the default setting.

I am on O2 Broadband and for the past month or so I keep getting random network errors when downloading apps through iTunes on my iMac. Don't seem to have any other Network problems or download problems. Is this anything to do with the problem you had, and if so what did you do to solve it.? Not sure what you meant by changing O2 DNS Servers. Thanks

sounds as if it could be the same issue.

do you get web pages half loading? pics not showing up? i was getting that as well as the itunes store probs. i switched DNS servers, then discovered this thread
seems it's been reported on a couple of forums, including o2's, but o2 support deny all knowledge of it.

if you follow my link, you'll find another within that shows how to change the settings on an o2 router. i have a another make, which is a bit easier :)

This is on Telifonica/Movistar networks and it's only affecting this 1 iPad. Every other PC, smart phone, tablet in area is working as normal.
It's just just this spanking new iPad that's having problems.

Offering advice on possible non-related issues doesn't address the original question.

Thanks for all responses.

Mainly just downloading iTunes apps. I phoned O2 Technical Support and they certainly were aware of it and said it was being worked on right now and to check it over the next day or so. If still a problem I was to get back to them.

UPDATE: Just downloads 15 updates through iTunes on my iMac with no problems at all. That is the first time in a month I have had no errors. Hopefully they have fixed the problem

I am also in the middle of setting up a Synology DiskStation DS212J so have quite a few setting to understand and make  Working through their Technical pages right now

Now that my iTunes downloads seem to be working fine to my computer I then had a go at updating my iPad 3rd Gen apps over WiFi instead of directly connecting to my iMac as I normally do.

I had no problems whatsoever downloading the updates. TIC TAC TOE updated and installed in 30 seconds. Its about half the size of the Skype app, so Skype shouldn't be much more than a minute or so to download and install. My 3rd Gen WiFi iPad was a pre-order, so had it from launch day. No problems using WiFi that I have noticed.

i gave you my advice on what to do in post 3.

that's it. you don't get any more from me. i only have limited time for people if it appears they are being intentionally moronic.

the advice on non related issues was not addressed to you, as was blindingly obvious by it being directly beneath a quote from another person.

Sorry to be a bother, I'm sure you have more important things to attend to.

As an update from the intentionally moronic to that egotistic know all "cookie", there seems to be a trend of posts on the Apple forum concerning wifi issues with the 3rd gen iPad.
