I recently purchased one of the Asus laptops mentioned in the Bargain Forum:

Well the device arrived and I thought I would set it up so all my daughter has to do is open the box and get browsing.

The wireless browser I have is password protected - not a problem - password entered, all is well.

The device shows that it is connected to the browser with an excellent signal but will not connect to the internet - "contact your network administrator" - err, that would be me and I have no idea what to do next. Any ideas?

As you're not providing a lot of info (brand of router, Asus OS etc), I'm going to generalise...: in short, you have to tell your router that it's OK for the Asus to access the network.

Go to the Wireless Station Access menu for your router, do a search for the Asus, and enable it.

On the Asus, look for your network and enter your security encryption pass phrase or access code.

Next time you have this problem, consider buying a Mac :)!

Good luck,
Achim
