Hi, my dealer have just placed on my GSA 07 the rear led light from de 08.
When I turn my bike on I have th message LAMPR when testing. This message only disappear when I turn the engine on. Is it normal on 08 model or on updated 07?
Regards

The bike has to be put through the diagnostics machine in the workshop and re-programmed when the '08 rear light is fitted. Did the dealer do this ?

I'd like to do this as well, but the dealer has told me to wait, bacause although they can source the light, they cannot source the loom to connect it. Oh and they have to reprogramme something
:D

I was in at Bahnstormer yesterday having my 07 1200gs serviced. I asked about having the 08 brake light cluster put onto it. Apparently BMW have plans to offer it as a retro fit but have yet to release the kit.

LED Rear Light 1200GS/GSA

Hi
I have been watching this for some time and am bemused by some of the comments from owners, the rear light has been on sale and stocked by BMW UK from the start of FEB 08. How do i know this i hear you ask because i have it fitted to my 2007 GSA i fitted it myself but had to take it to my dealer to be set up (LAMPR) showed up as a fault. I had to purchase a seperate loom connection which BMW forgot to mention when i ordered the light it is an extra £10 on top of the lamp price. It mentions that it is a retro fit "NOT" by dealer for the GSA in the BMW Parts book but dealer fit for the GS someone got this wrong you have to go to the dealer as i did, i protested to BMW about this as the dealer was going to charge me for re setting the computer on the bike so it accepted the light. I pointed out that when i bought the light i was not told about this (dealer fit) they agreed that the dealer should set it up FOC. Bit of a saga but now sorted.

I used a cheaper solution. Purchased a LED rear light from ebay (item no. 380030379817) for £25 + £6 p& p. To stop the problem with the LAMP failure indicator I simply used some suitably rated resistors (40p each from Maplin) and soldered them in parallel with the LED connector. Works a treat. Looks really good too!. :bounce1

I used wire wound 10 watt rated resistors from Maplin (40p each) 33 ohm for tail light, and 2 x 15 ohm in parallel (equates to 7.5ohm and 20 watt rating) for stop light. I probably could have used slightly higher values but these work fine, hope this helps.

Am doing the same but can you answer:

1. Where did you get resistors as Maplins Dont have in stock.

2. Are the values OK.

3. DO you have heat build up.

Thanks
