more mysterious color...but niiiiiiiiiceee

the touratech side panels are good ?!?!?

;)

Jlabro

These are the Wunderlich one not the Touratech. They are very good and much better than Touratech. You can fit them and keep the back spring preload factory adjustment knob. Whereas with the Touratech you have to remove it!! Also they are streched further down keeping dirt away from the rider.

It looks good.
Did you paint the cylinder heads or are they replacements?
I see you started off with a Remus can, why did you take it off ?

Ross , I have painted the cylinder heads. Started off with Remus but was bit too vibey for me. Have since installed a K&N filter which match excellent with the stock muffler. I might go back to Remus again but for the time being the current set up suits me fine.

Hi Conwise,

congratulation, nice looking bike without spending a lot of money;
can you explain in details how you painted the cylinder heads and what about the K & N air filter ? have you noticed any improvements or is it useless ? does it give more power, acceleration etc...

another question Conwise: what are these nice engine bars that you have ? they look very nice, tell me !

Hi Marco ,

Cylinder heads have been removed as follows:

First place the bike on the center stand and ideally leave it for 30 - 45 minutes so the engine oil runs completely off the cylinders and in to the engine sump.

Remove the spark plug cover . Then using the special tool included in your tool box remove the spark plug assemply wire.
You dont have to remove the actual spark plug.

Place a bucket under the Cylinder to collect any remaining oil when you will actually remove the cylinder head.

By removing the 4 retaining cylinder screws you can remove the actual cylinder head.

After removing the cylinder head you have to remove the screws as they are secured on the cylinder with rubber o rings . Also you will have to remove from the inside the center rubber ring.

Mine where painted with a black semi mat paint wich matches perfectly the rest of the cylinder.

Now as far as the K& N filter , the bike revs better , accelerates better and as I have stated in a previous thread I have noticed better performance with the K&N than installing the Remus end can . (Now removed)

Hi again Conwise,

Thank for this detailled explanation; I understand that there is no need to sand the cylinder head before painting it;

I believe that in case of engine problems you have to remove the K & N filter and place the stock one before returning the bike to your BMW dealer in order to get the full warrantee, correct ?

Marco , as far as painting the cylinder same has to be sanded and prime coated before painting if you want a factory looking part. Sorry that I was not clear about that before.

K& N procedure in case of a problem ... YES you are correct.

Thank you for the correction Mouse .. this is what a meant by Cylinder head.
