Anyone installed it yet?
Yes.
Always have a colly-wobbles about Beta copies until someone else tries them.....
Just because it runs fine at my computer there's no guarantee that it will work for you. In fact it's rare that problems show up on every machine because then it usually wouldn't be released at all. We may have different hw, run different OS, use other applications for it to coexist with or have different GPS. We probably use a different set of maps and settings and we definately use different languages. Any one of these things, and many more, may introduce a bug.

Unfortunately many people that have no idea about the consequences are installing betas when they shouldn't.

The first question one should ask before downloading a beta release is if we are ready to have our MapSource installation fecked up with a possible re-install from scratch.

The second question is if we need/want any of the fixes or new features introduced, or are extremely curious.

If both questions are answered with a positive yes then it's okay to install a beta but otherwise one should wait for a proper release.

I've installed this & previous Beta releases from Garmin with no adverse effects whatsoever.

I certainly regard them as a 'reliable' source when it comes to Beta releases.

Cheers

I've installed it anyway and gone up two realeases at the one time.

Unless my eyes deceived me at 0200 this morning, the maps look different, perhaps it was the night nurse or the codeine phosphate I was on ...but I'm sure the lines look a litle different for motorways etc......

Ditto :)

It means that the software developers haven't fully tested how prone it is to breaking. Most car/bike manufacturers leave this process to independent product testers............otherwise known as buyers :D

Thank-you, I'll leave it for a while then :thumb

I've used this new version for some time. Only bug I've found is that it can't upload mixed map products to the GPS. No big issue for me.

The most interesting news is the new track editor. Great News! I often download tracks, modify them, and later on use them as routes so this is what I have needed for a long time! :clap

Taken from list of updated features... :thumb

Modified the drawing of interstates and highways so that the line width changes based on the map's zoom level.

I prefer the "new" look, it doesn't seem to have transferred across to the GPS though :(

I got the last beta: when I installed it it allowed you to change the colour of the routes, but now this function has disappeared. Strange....
