New model 2018 GS

the RALLYE and TRIPLE black were the last editions of the previous model so history may suggest a complete change to be imminent - I'm not sure how the overall package can be improved though - the look and feel of the current GS/GSA will take some beating. The new KTM tech would be well received tho - oh and dare i say some better paint?

If the new GSA could have another 30HP and be powder coated, i'd stick with BMW. Will see what comes....

+1 I will keep my GSA triple black for 18 months and see what updates on the next model. Hilltop on the 17th June.

I am planning to shift over to the orange camp just for that fantastic dash on the 1290. Only if BMW boffins address that in the 2018 MY release ... but unlikely. But hey ho ... one can dream.

As Bosch make the clocks, and have sold them to KTM and BMW, they should be on the new GS. If that's the only reason you'd get a KTM, then wait.

I'll be in the market for a new GSA soon - I'm not too worried about "losing" the summer riding months (what summer?!) - when would be a good time to speak to my dealer about the revised version? I don't mind test riding the current one but don't want to waste their time if it's months away for the revised version.

free stuff

You will know "IF" a face lift or new version is coming out when "free" panniers or top box , tank bags or sat nav's adverts start to appear back end of the year etc. :rob

Chances are it will be previewed at the Milan show in November and start to be available in Spring 18. You'll probably still be caught in a quandary however, since by then we'll probably have news of an increased hp engine for the GS (not a new shape would be my guess - that would be MY 20/21), and so then you'll be wanting to wait for it taken forward to the GSA!

Don't forget the 3.9% interest rate deals, as well...

Just buy what you like now! No point in waiting for updates your playing catch up all the time!

No. The facelifted GSA will be in dealers this August/ September. The all new GS should be next March/ April.

I'm happy to wait until 2019 GSA is out, not entirely sure I would go with the OEM luggage.

Well judging by the feed back I think a NEW GS model is round the corner hopefully with a new dash and improved quality on stainless steel pipes that seems to rust rather quickly. (with the possibility of being able to use the existing LC luggage range). I have tested the new 2017 KTM 1290S and its very impressive but I found it to have poor wind protection and you sit on top of it rather than a sit in it like the GS. The KTM has a more aggressive throttle response than the smoother GS. Its a very close second to my 2013 GS. So hopefully the new 2018 model should pip it the 1290S if not the KTM second hand market maybe worth looking at in 2018

I was chatting to my mate who puts in the orders for new bikes from the fatherland today at my loca dealer, He states the system won't let him order any GSs from September he reckons there must be a change coming.

Told ya! ;)

That sounds like good timing for me... I've got a r1200gs 2016...... and a tour of then RDGA in July, then Pyrenees, picos, and then home.
So, if 2018 sees a new GS, then I "might" be in the position to change. I've got the money to do it, but need to know if its the time to change , or to keep the 'old' GS.......

Ride Safe y'all

Spoke to my dealer as thinking about trading my GSA and putting deposit on 2018 GS. He said he knew nothing about this and wasn't expecting the new GS until 2019. He said he hasn't heard anything from BMW about a new GS next year.

Dealers always say that, they need to keep selling bikes, not have everyone waiting for a new model.
