Anyone know when they start producing them?

I had my 4 year old ralley MOT'd last week and was taken with the new Trophy
They were supposedly offering an additional £1000 part ex for any bike bought and registered before the end of March.
This is only for stock held- no orders taken (is the new bike due for release in April)
But the deal was dismal, evidently a 4 year old mint bike is worth little if it has 22450 miles on, they work on 3k a year and that is higher than many they get in!
More like Harley than BMWs

BMW factory is sure to know. Doubt if they have told anyone on here, nor the dealers as they don't want people to stop buying the stock.

It's been known that it's a May 23 release for at least the last 18 months. Over that time, people has been saying it's this month, next month, late 23 etc, refusing to just accept the fact that ynguldyn has all the info about bmw cars and bikes.

You mean the rumour is that. Do you have an official source for that or have you just heard it on the internet too?

ynguldyn is more than an internet rumour - he has been around for at least 7 years - and has shown to be just about 100% on all of the information he shares. It's as close to factory as you'll get.

On the other matter, I'd imagine all trade-ins would be hit regardless of mileage. Not only are they already throwing in the 1k to shift what they have left, but we also know that BMW GS are the most minted and/or upgrade anxious of the biking world - there's going to be a flood of 1200s and 1250s hitting their dealerships over the summer. If you had a 1200 or 1250 to move on, late last year was the time to do it.

That seems strange the deal was so crap ('deal was dismal, evidently a 4 year old mint bike is worth little if it has 22450 miles on'). I've seen highish mile bikes in dealers for sale and yes they were priced lower than bikes with less miles but i was surprised by how little. i remember asking the sales guy about it when i said how come that bike over there with 14000 miles is only £950 cheaper than the same bike over there with 28000, his response was - 'its still a premium quality bike'

I suppose it depends on what you were expecting and what you think is reasonable vs what they were offering. I'd be looking for a quote elsewhere just to test the water. I accept dealers are there to make a living but when they market the GS as a premium bike that's quality i'd expect that to ripple through into px values. Rightly or wrongly i was always under the impression BM dealers were fairly generous with px's to lock you into the brand but as always each persons measure of a fair deal will differ.

I'll be in a similar boat to you shortly as i'm thinking of moving my bikes on and possibly looking at the new 1300 when it lands. I'm simply going to judge whether the loss on a 3 to 4 year old bike is worth it for the latest and greatest. If the cost to change is a ridiculous amount then i'll either look at moving to another brand or keep what i've got and just accept i might get some highish bills.

Its always a dilemma of losing a bucket load of cash changing vs the peace of mind a new bike brings.

It would be interesting to hear from others what their experience of changing has been in terms of a cost to change for a 3/4 year old bike in good condition as its new territory for me.

Given that the new bike will have a price hike, I'd manage my expectations around having to throw in 10k to upgrade from a 3/4 year old bike. Offset that by 1.5k you'd save on warranty or money set side for repair bills in the event of.

I was in the dealers last week toying with the idea of swapping my 16 plate 43,000 miles vgc triple black. They offered me an oct 22 tb gsa with 500 miles on the clock (yes 500) and wanted 11k and my bike. I could have had a new trophy gsa for 12,250 and mine.
I asked about the new model, and he seemed to think the new bike wouldn't appear until the shows at the back end of the year, then it may appear in dealers early next year.
Everything loses money, but i thought that my bike losing about half what i paid over 6 years ago, wasnt too bad, certainly compared to cars.
Anyway i've found a 2 year old gsa with less than 3k miles on it, so that will keep me happy, and i can watch the new model come out, then maybe an update the year after, by which time there maybe a chance of a newish used one.

Hmmmm difficult.

Over 10K to swop is a lot of money to most, trouble is I find FSH BMW bikes with high miles (depends what you call high miles) just run in.

I have had 7 GS/A's everyone taken over 30K and they all got sweeter. Current 68 plate R1250GSA approaching 40K is so smooth and feels better and better.

Every time I have changed the old one always has that feeling "bloody good bike" :blast

Anyway, good luck to everybody either way when the new one comes out.

yes, this is the timing for the GSA, as above link - will probably hit the dealers in Nov-Jan. GS should be May 23, so in dealers from late June I'd expect.

My bike will be worth nowt when I’m done with it if they work on 3k miles a year, by their reckoning it’s already 4 years old and I bought it in Nov21 brand new :D

I've sold my GS in anticipation of the new model coming out. This year is really busy for me so I won't have much of a chance to ride, if it gets announced in the autumn and bikes get released next spring that will work out very nicely for me. Hopefully it's similar to how they've done the new M1000R.

I've registered at a couple of dealers that i'm interested but none will let me leave a deposit.

If it is correct that BMW (and my dealer believes it is ) will no longer be offering the option of non ESA models for the GSA my current 2022 model GSA will be my last

That is your choice. I can't understand why everyone else should be interested in what you choose.

Ride

I have been away for a couple of days on the bike. I had polished it to get part-ex price and when I arrived at my Mums she thought I was on the New Bike. She couldn't believe it was 4 years old!
First good ride this year and although it was cold the roads were dry and I has a real blast absolutely loved it.
I agree with the quote in an earlier reply they get better with more miles on. My previous Twin Cam was better at 30k than 10k and seemed sweeter the more miles it did. The dealerships seem to sell new bike on the back of 3 years warranty but surely a well run-in bike shouldn't be a problem at 4 years?

They wanted my bike and 9k for a new old bike ( new model due) I was mainly interested as I have loads of extras on that probably wont fit the new model. But I have had two great days ridding and loved it. If I didn't have a bike and was looking if someone offered me this( mine) for £11500 I'd snap their hand off. This all started as I looked at the new colours on the Trophy whilst mine was MOT'd

I too am looking at changing my 16 plate GSA with 12500 miles on it, been looking at the Trophy colour options. Phone a few dealers and all the new bikes are not available with heat seating as BMW decided on fitting the LED adaptive lights due the the chip shortage. I think thats what they mean.
I have contacted a a few dealers for prices and working through them, roughly my bike and 13k as looking at Akrprovic slip on and new panniers added. Although some dealers say just get my Aluminium panniers re keyed.

What are peoples thoughts, also any problems with dealers around the country. I know people don't want to run down dealers but PM me with dealers to avoid...

Thanks in advance.

I think if your panniers are in a condition your happy with them i'd go down the re keying route and save a bucket load of cash. Also if they are silver and you fancied black i'd get some of the black graphics many use on here. My thinking would also factor in whether the current luggage would fit the new GSA when it lands as if you fancied a change in a few years time you might end up buying another set. I've got a full set of black luggage on my GSA and the panniers haven't even been used (that's my stupid fault), if they wont fit the new model then i might just keep what i've got.
The Px price looks to be consistent with some of the above posts e.g. a 16 plate and £12250 but more miles, You've got luggage and a can in yours which if you took off looks like your getting a higher value for the lower miles. All approx of course as it depend on the specific model and condition etc.
These px values make interesting reading as it gives me a rough idea of what i'll be facing if i decide to change in a year or two's time and whether i decide its worth even walking into the dealers for a quote. I've certainly got a lot better idea than i had before based on the posts in this thread.

Thanks for the reply very useful decisions decisions.

I was in the dealers (Cotswold Motorrad) yesterday and the salesman hadn't heard anything definite but his guess was it'll be at the shows in the Autumn with some run out offers on the 1250 beforehand. I was there for my end of warranty check, the cardon drive and software update recals as well as an MOT and prices are getting silly now. They had a couple of 1250 GS trophies in tagged up at over 20k and even a boggo standard TE was not far off. No doubt the 1300 will be even more money, not a massive problem for the PCP brigade as they're only interested in the monthly payments but if you're buying outright it's getting rather salty.
