Does anyone have any idea what the future of the 1200GS and GSA is likely to be?
If current 5-year pattern is maintianed then the 1200GS will run until 2008/9 and there will be an 2ish-year overlap for the GSA. BMW don't seem to produce facelift models as other manufacturers do.
I have seen all kinds of speculation about a 1250GS model being produced; different styling to the current 1200GS; blah blah etc.etc.
Anyone know what is likely to be revealed at the up-coming shows?
Makes a difference to planning purchases.:D

2500GS which weighs 100kg lighter goes twice as fast has even more electronic gizmos and includes a kettle??

BMW are pretty good at keeping the lid on new bikes. We have know for about 4 months officially that there will be a GS800, probably this autum, but till know no official pics.

The new R1200R has increased horsepower to 109BHP, I think it safe to say the that engine will probably find itself in 2008 GS's, the rest is speculation. With regard to future purchases it is very annoying to go and splash 10k on a bike to find it replaced 2 months later, but I think in the wourld we live it that won't happen. Rumours as with the 800 will start a year before.

Go buy the bike you want now and enjoy it. look at prices for 1100's, 1150's and 3 year old 12's..... if yo get a twelve now and in 2009 the new super GS is so much better then jion the 8 month waiting list get a good price for your 12 and get a new one.

Or wait till 2009 and watch other having fun in the mean time.

ride safe.

Hello Bros,

Anybody has photos or some more info about new 2008 models of R 1200 GS/GSA??

What's the difference to this years - 2007 - models?

Thanx!! :aidan:aidan:aidan

the rumours are, r1200r 105bhp engine, and a big facelift, the newer look is said to be very clearly different to the current 1200gs and 1200adv . and it look,s like we will see them at the milan show in november . so you might want to wait for just a few more months . and get ready for all the posts from current model 1200 owners saying that the newer models are not as good as theirs :rob

I also heard about new machine, which will be from new R 1200 R model, that means with 105 HP.

But what will be changed in already perfect look of one GS/GSA??? :thedummy

I understand that there is a R1250 GS due 2008 which is why there are a number of deals to be had on R1200 GS at dealers at the moment. Don't want to be left with too many 1200's when the 1250's arrive!

I heard that the price of pork was going up ;)

BMW have stuck to their self-imposed model cycle for some time now. It's not too difficult to work out when a new model is due.

As with the 1150GSA, you can expect an overlap with the 1200GSA and whatever replaces the 1200GS Basic (it makes economic sense when you look at GSA sales v Basics at the moment. If the GSA had been launched alongside the basic, it would miss out the boom sales by the "must have" brigade").

They tend to let low volume sellers like LT's soldier on so as to maximise their return, sales against production costs.

The 1200GS was launched in 2004, you can expect the replacement to surface in late 2008 with sales starting in 2009. As with the 1150GSA, the 1200GSA will sell alongside the 1200GS replacement and they will delay the launch of the replacement Adventure model until they have shifted the last of the outgoing model.

I have it straight from the horses mouth ie a dealers, that the 2008 will have the 'uprated' 107? (109ps) bhp engine and there will be some cosmetic changes. It put me off buying a new one as soon as he said it. Did himself out of a sale but I'm grateful he told me. I think this should/has had a knock on effect with secondhand prices. I'm off to look at 06/07's in Manchester tomorrow.

(No) more horsepower

Unfortunately if the main 'improvement' is more horsepower, we won't get it here in France because of the 100 bhp limit. However I do find that 100hp seems to be more than sufficient to keep me ahead of every other type of vehicle on the roads her, (except kamikaze scooters going to school) so I am not too concerned;

Brian said it right.

I'm not concerned that model with 100 HP will remain "oldfashioned"; if new model with 105-7-9 HP comes (that's all not important), actual model can be cheaper, and I'm satisfied with that. Next spring it's mine! I already plan a custom-hand-made-cases for it... :type:type:type

With 100 HP, actual model is even more that excellent powered for such a class and purpose of bike. Consumption of 4-6 litres on 100 km, for 1200 ccm and 100 HP, makes me very satisfied. :clap

Even now, 1200 GS goes over 200 km/h, what is almost question of sense for travel maxi enduros. What can be better? I'm not looking for more power, higher speed od less consumption... OK; I (usually) agree for less consumption... :bow
