I just paid £8600 for second hand bike with grips, alarm, bars 2.8K on the clock and six months old. Dealer price.

Bonus being ya dont even have to run it in.:D YKIMS.;)

[QUOTEi have £9000 to spend on a new or a second hand 1200.The new one will only have grips on,the second hand one has grips, abs, alarm and has only 2400 miles on the clock.any advice please.

i believe u should get the new one WITH abs,be a little tough at the finance,bt at least u will know that only YOU have driven it,and HOW the bike is being treated.

INHO this is very important.

You will look back after six months and say "should have benn more pressured, and bought the new one "

My opinion always..

If you buy new you immediately loose alot of money and have to run it in. Buying 2nd hand makes sense. I've just sold my 1200 due to house move costs and it had heated grips/ABS/PAnniers/Beak/Engine Bars.Cylinder protectors/Touratech goodies etc...etc.....No question on what the logical solution is...

The bike definitely is "fashionable" so I suggest you wait a few months more and you will be able to buy a year old one with just a couple of thousand on the clock for (I reckon) less than £6k when some of the weekend warriors move onto the next fashion item.

BMW resale prices wont hold with the number of bikes now being sold and with the numbers of new ex-sportsbike riders buying them.

Possibly - though I have actually bought a new GS. Commonsense and "what you want" arent always the same thing!

And you do have a nice arse by the way!!
