Hi guys, just to let you know I ma the proud owner of a new BMWR1200RT SE. I swapped my old bike which was a Suzuki Hayabusa for the RT. Picked it up from Barrie Robsons of York a the back end of July. I have covered just over 1500 miles now and I must say i am very impressed with the overall package. While it does not have the rocket ship acceleration of the Busa it ticks the boxes in so many other boxes in other areas that I do not miss that side of the Busa. Compared to the big Suzi I am also also impressed with the build quality, just as good as Hondas if not better. As for the extra kit, having been caught out in a heavy downpour in the dales a week or so ago, i just do not know how i managed without heated grips and seat before this. It made the whole experience while not exactly pleasant, definitely more tolerable. On the Busa I would have wrapped my hand in and called it a day. But the big beemer just seemed to shrug it off. The screen is also a major plus in keeping the inclement weather of the rider. But hey you know all this anyhow as you already own one. I will shut my blathering keyboard up. Just thought I would share my view on the bike with you. All in all I am one happy R1200RT owner. :beerjug::thumb

And he's posting in the RT section, so it's all good :)

To the op, that big old barn door on the front of the Rt has been invaluable thru the great British summer - and better than my GSA screen ;)

I bought one in April after 4 yrs on my beloved GS. Love it, wanted an outright tourer for a change and that twin cam boxer is very sweet :D Can't wait for some big euro miles next year.......... in the meantime, happily exploring the best the UK has to offer:beerjug:

Hi Shipwreck,

I had a couple over the years and have an 07 one now, i love it mate. I had an 1150 GSA as well but sold it earlier this year as it just wasn't getting used, i honestly preferred the RT.

I have a 99 HD 'Fatboy' in the garage keeping the RT company at the mo, different kind of bike.....

I have been riding the HD this week but took the RT to work yesterday, after a week on the Fatboy the RT felt like a rolls royce!!!

Enjoy the bike mate.
