Hello Everyone, just had my used 1300gs a week[4500 miles].I have posted this same question on another forum so sorry if you've read it twice.

Just a question or two:
1/ the most important: At modest cruising speed of 50/60mph the piston cant be heard, the wind noise is barely there- all great- except I can hear all sorts of frankly agricultural noises from the engine and drive. It sounds like a threshing machine not a piece of precision engineering.. Is this what it should sound like.

2/ The ABS pump is giving feedback through the lever at what did not feel like abs levels of braking, on dry roads. Is this right. My previous bike the 850gs never gave abs feedback.

Thanks

Hi

Boxers are generally top end noisy, i think it’s mainly just that you hear more noise because the pots are sticking out and not under a tank or behind a fairing

The brakes are linked which can give some strange behavior if you’re not used to it, it also changes depending upon your riding mode,

I find it behaves more normally in Dynamic mode whereas in Road mode it intervenes more than I’d like it to

Thanks-Just watched the bennetts geek test and it's a noise cam chain rattling engine. Oh well. The torque and power delivery though is rather nice, not so agricultural there.
Thanks for the heads up on the brakes.

I can only answer the first one: yes, they sound like two steel skeletons shagging in a biscuit tin. Definitely noisier than the 1250. All goes away with ear plugs. Great bike, though.

You can also pretend your in an old British Leyland car and the whining noise is a bit of nostalgia 🙂
For a new engine it is surprisingly unrefined I've got used to it now 6,000miles in .
