Hello guys,

I am taking ownership of a 2012 RT1200 on the 22nd of July.

I have a 550 mile trip to ride home where I will be doing a change of oils and filters.

My questions are ....

Are there any body panels to remove to gain access to the filters and sump washer?

Where online can I purchase genuine oil filters and a oil filter removal tool.

And obviously an oil question!!!......what is required for the 2102 model is it the 10w 50 fully synthetic or the 15w 50 part synthetic??....and your prefered brand please

Oil and filter

You can get to oil filter and sump plug underneath without removing panels. I have bought a few BMW tools from Bristol superbikes on line via E bay, he does oil filters and sump plug washers too.

As for oils Martyn H on this forum has a good handle on choice from a credible source.

Not sure I got it right, are you aiming to do a roadside oil change on the ride home ?
