I got my new phone, off here! I have gone from Samsung S10 to Samsung S20. I managed to set it up so that it wified the old phone to the new phone, it took about 25 minutes. they were both on 100% at the start, just to make sure.
Not everything has gone across. First up I have spent from 05.30 this morning until about an hour ago, when I gave in and opened a bottle of wine (gone now, off to get a 2nd) in a minute). Whatsapp was blank, all my contacts had come across with their correct numbers, my text lists were all still there, my phototos came over.... no whatsapp green dot on any contact names. OK, I have sorted that by sending a new invite to everyone with the message saying what I had done wrong. Then I went to look at LinkedIn in the vain hope there might be a message offering some work... I don't exist on LinkedIn on either phone now and trying to login the stupid LinkedIn system has made me a new profile. I didn't realise what it was doing until halfway through, there was no way of going back, no back button. I have googled and googled to try to find out how to retrieve my existing LinkedIn - I am there on this computer quite happily, but it won't let me use my new phone to access my page.
Does anyone know what I have done?
Do you know how I can undo it and get my existing page back onto my mobile please?

I have discovered recently, part of my techy problem is I am digitally dyslexic - there are some things on webpages and such that just go fuzzy blur, pages that are clear type to other popel. It depends on the layout and design, some I can see quite happily, others are just like looking at a kaleidoscope, which is why I have these problems.
I would be so grateful for any help.

I have found using my google account is the best way to get contacts and logins from old phone to new phone. This is particularly handy if you leave the old phone on your topbox lid at Puerto de Pandetrave in the Picos. I did retrieve the phone but not after it was launched into the scenery and smashed to screen. All pertinent data was stored in the Google cloud to be installed to the replacement phone.

Anyway, as a solution to your current problems. Do you have a grandchild, nephew etc that could be employed as a consultant?

Errr, nobody I can turn to.
How do you find out if you have a google account?

It's the sort of thing that would be much easier done face to face.

I've done some work locally with Cambridge Online which is a charity which helps bridge the digital skills gap. They have various outreach programmes where they send skilled people into village halls etc so you can just walk in with your issue and they help you resolve it. They also take donations of old laptops and phones etc and they refurbish them and give them to people who need them but wouldn't otherwise be able to afford them.

Not sure if there are any organisations like that in Uttoxeter?

I did a quick search but didn't immediately find anything. Might be worth asking around though as I think it will be a painful experience for you doing it online.

Google account? If you didn't know about it then you haven't got one. Do you need one? Opinions vary. I'm not a fan, but then I'm a bit more paranoid about digital data than normal humans due to my line of work :D

It would be unusual to be using Android phones and not have set up a Google account at some stage.

Do you think you might have had a "Gmail" email address at any point?
