Took my 13yr old boy as a pillion for the first time on Saturday - big big grins.
Looking for a nice route to take him next weekend.
Live in between Reading and Oxford and I was thinking of taking him to Stonehenge but looking on the AA site it looks as though the majority of the route is A34 which is not too interesting. I'm looking for a couple of hours ride on none motorway / dual-carriage way then bit of lunch (not in a town centre) and then back.

Any suggestions ??

If you still want to go to Stonehenge then there are lot of obvious alternatives to the A34. I seem to recall the A338 is quite pleasant, and once you get to Stonehenge you could come back across Salisbury Plain (the A360 through Tilshead if you don't want to venture onto the gravel tracks). Your son may even get to see some tanks or APCs out and about.

If you want alternative destinations, how about heading west to the Welsh Borders? The A420 then A417 to Gloucester then a play in the Forest of Dean.
Then head north for a while toward Worcester before heading east and home again. All great roads and great scenery.
