Good morning,
I'm a long time ADVrider that just moved to Cork from Colorado. It's time to start looking for a bike and I'm leaning towards another GS. I probably messed up, because i sold both my 1150GS and my 08 TE610 before I came over. I realize now I might have been better off just shipping them - but at the time it seemed like a huge hassle. So here we are.

I've looked on the cycle side of Autotrader, I've been over to Keary's BMW, and I've looked in the For Sale part of UKGser. The For Sale section seems to be mostly UK bikes - kind of hard to find the Ireland listings.

Any advice on where else I should look for a bike?

Look forward to meeting and riding with some of you this coming year.

Regards,

tim

Hi Tim

and Welcome!

There are a few guys local to you in the Peoples Republic of Cork..........they'll be along shortly.

As to locating a bike, its no harm in keeping an eye on the ForSale&Wanted section even if most bikes for sale are in the UK. The exchange rate makes it worthy of the slight hassle of getting over there and bringing one back, but its not that difficult - allowing a day for the task.

There are some Irish sites that are worth keeping an eye on....
www.biker.ie
www.donedeal.ie
www.bikebuyersguide.ie (mostly dealers, but certainly come private sales)

See you out sometime....

Its worth stumping up the £12 sterling Subscription to the site so that we can send private messages to you..........also will give you access to the FS&W functions on the site.

There's a Black 1150GSA for sale near me (its on bikebuyersguide.ie), email if you want to 27pines at gmail dot com and I can supply more details

I'll do that. Actually, I tried to previously, but the Sticky thread said to look for "Sponsor" in the FAQs, and there's nothing like that in FAQ's - even the Search turns up blank...

The word 'sponsor' is a bit misleading alright :blast 'Subscriber' would be more accurate.

Click on Vireos link & then click on the credit card symbol & you should be grand :aidan

Other than Kearys there are 2 Motorrad dealers near Dublin :
Joe Duffy, just off the M50 at Finglas.
Maddocks, off the N/M 11 at Bray.

When you get organised with a bike come out & join us for a ride out. There's a few things on over the Christmas hols and there'll be two 'national' events again this year. Details of those are here.

Phil this isn't me winding you up i'm being serious... you'll never get anyone even to start to talk to you when you are asking over €2000 too much... you know it... everyone on here knows it and you still try to sell it for stupid money..... price it keen, sell it and move on... you've had it for sale for about 2-3 years now.... does the fact that it's not sold in all that time not tell you something... you've had it up on other sites too and had no sale... 46 days on this donedeal one as well.
Move fast sell now and buy something different with the favourable Euro:aidan

Lots of love from Cúil Raithin :D

P.S. stop spamming your products;)

It may be overpriced in the UK , But it aint overpriced in the Republic.
And just to keep it real , Its Cheaper than they are priced in Germany.
On mobile.de , a comparable 04 1200GS , is Currently priced at Eur7500.

And again , it says Negotiable.

if you'd like a real GS, I've a '93 R80GS, one of the black and yellow classic airhead that could move the 90 odd miles from Limerick to Cork.
Rediscover real BMW boxer biking.

and welcome to Ireland and the forum.
Much abuse is common to both places, our bite is worse than our bark, fools are not tolerated and you shouldn't believe everything here.

Ahhh the wee R80 , now if the Money was Right , ? .
O Know a Man that would be a ""Foolish Fella "" and have a go ?.

Welcome Tim

Welcome Tim,

We spoke on yesterday in Keary’s. Hope you have good luck in locating your bike.

As Jimmy and I said, it may be better to look for two bikes if you want good off-road and better on road capabilities. I would highly recommend the GS1200, but then I biased.

Again welcome.

Jaysus, ye nordie boys do love a good arguement.

Welcome TIm,
A move to Langerland...It looks like you have chosen one of the more active counties for biking:aidan
The way the market is at the moment, you'll have tons of choice of bikes.
Take Gunner up on his offer and give him a call.. You won't get a better starting point.

Nobody has mentioned insurance and I think this is one thing you should look into. There's some posts on the very limited choice of companies if you do a search. Put a post if you get any trouble.
