Hi all, :)

Following the resounding success of my crud catcher, thanks to all the members who got involved and supported me, I have finally `got my finger out` and developed a new product. Sorry it was late in coming but I need to spend a great deal of time to ensure, the best I can, I don`t drop my standards of workmanship :D

Anyway, less boll*cks :clap already.

As with most of my clobber (www.cymarcbikeparts.co.uk) I only try to improve on what is already `out there` - in this case I must admit that the standard BMW heel cover is very much fit for purpose but I saw (or so I thought) 3 areas in which I could improve on `good`:

1. By changing the design I have `dropped` the bottom of the heel guard to cover more of the exposed brake master cyclinder linkage. If you compare mine to the standard you`ll see what I mean.

2. By moving to a more exotic material (high grade stainless) I also believe I have increased the wear resistance over the original. indeed, my BMW guard already has scuff marks on it. :tears

3. By using laser technology to manufacture the new part (the BMW one is a formed blank) I believe I have been able to hit tighter tolerances and my part is a much more `tighter` fit. :thumb2

And, as an aside, it also polishes up very nicely which the BMW does not! :augie

As I said, the BMW one is lovely and I am truly in awe that I have most possibly bought the best bike I have ever purchased in around 30 years of biking - I have just tried to improve on the best in a little way.

Anyway, it is now on fleabay at Item number: 110484127173 and, if any member wants to purchase one, it attracts the standard 10% discount.

I`ll try to get some images in here for you to take a look at.

Oh yes, I do it plain or slotted depending on what you think looks the best.

Hope you like it, don`t forget to have a look at my wee website on www.cymarcbikeparts.co.uk

Postage

I`ll do it the same as the ebay UK prices and do it `airmail` for you at £2.50 if that is ok? Please specify if you want slotted or plain when you do the paypal pmt mate :clap

Feck sake with " a great deal of time to ensure, the best I can" you'd have thought you would allow clearance for the bolt heads to fit :blast

Bolt head cut outs

Hi matey, not sure if I have got the wrong end of the stick here but I`ll try to explain and if I have got the wrong end of the stick just ignore all my prattlling on :blagblah

Originally, the fastener heads did not fit (i.e. not enough clearance) as the bend line was stopping this. The solution was not to move the bend line to the left as this would foul on the master cylinder itself (if you look at the Beemer one you`ll see they solved it with a radiused form).

The solution had to be creating clearance for the fastener head whilst not moving the bend line.

I achieved this by what I thought was a (cleverly) shaped hole which not only accommodated the fastener shank itself but also a left hand portion of the fastener head. When formed the hole formed a recess actually sat on the bendline.

This left hand portion of the fastener head fits snugly into the recess and allows the fastener to be fully and properly inserted. On the image you can just see the recess with the fastener head sitting neatly into it. Without the recess the fastener head would simply foul on the bend and not allow proper insertion.

I don`t think I have sent you one which is wrong but if your fastener heads are larger than mine then I am sorry for not anticipationg this and will, of course, make you a `special` to accommodate the larger fastener head size. Or, of course, I offer a no quibble full refund because I do not want anyone not to be 100% happy - the money I make on the stuff just isn`t worth it and I really am not doing this stuff for only financial gain.

So, as i said, if I have the wrong end of the stick I am sorry for talking b*llocks!

just let me know............ :bow

Regards,

Mark.

New product

Hi all, I have put my new product in the vendors bit entitled 'New product GS(A) seat plate/rack combo' if anyone is interested?

:thumb2

I fitted Cymarc`s solid heel guard and I think it looks very nice in comparison to the dull ugly pressed BMW original.
I polished it a bit more so that it complements my Pivotpegs.
I`ll get me coat.....

Bolts could be swapped for allen cap head's - problem solved. cost about £2 delivered on ebay. :rob

Good suggestion

Good suggestion Snoopy Geezer but members will have to take note of the reduced dia of the skt cap head over the flanged OEM Torx head fastener and the `security` (or likelhood of wobbling/moving if not fully tightnened) of the heel guard once fitted.

Otherwise, with all that bollocks said, it sounds like a good alternative!

The very same bolts that hold the heel guard also hold the rear brake master cylinder, if the heel guard comes loose the cylinder will automatically come loose as well.

I looked into my stainless faster box but couldnt find the right length allan or allen? screw, hence still used the old ones, due to the larger diameter probably a good idea anyway, or at least use a nice stainless washer as well.

Yeah I agree

Yep, I would personally tend to use the originals - not that there is anything wrong with stainless alternatives - as long as it was `like for like` in my opinion. I have used the original ones on my GS

You are right about the master cylinder, of course, and I forgot to mention that in my earlier post.
