Very similar to mine that I got a couple of months ago - Looks in good nick. One thing I'm hoping to do soon is replace all the brake lines. I checked the FD bearing too - which was OK. Lights aren't exactly fantastic, soprobably do something about that one day, but mostly just enjoying riding it :thumb2

Welcome...two things Tobinators to give you better screen adjustment often here and on eBay for about £40 make sure you get GS not GSA ones they are different....and get the seat recovered in black ... Google Tony Archer in Huddersfield in buy black ones from eBay....ok maybe three things Rugged Roads rear rack extn worth is weight in gold!!! And enjoy.....:thumb2

Just noticed the top box......no need for rack extn if you are keeping it!!!:blast

For servicing I would recommend Jono at Adventure Bike Warehouse in Salford.

Excellent workmanship and value. Not too far away from you.

Click on the link on this site.

thanks for all the replies wasnt expecting so many.

definatley looking at engine bars at some point in near future and a hid replacement for dipped beam.

the screen is one thing at the moment i think is aweful on the bike. its a wunderlust one i think and even on highest setting still get a lot of buffeting at normal speeds and im only 5ft 10. ive just started reading up on the tobinators.

im looking at a side stand spreader and will be putting acf 50 on it. i actually quite like the seats in red to be honest strange i know.

i was looking on alan jefferies web site and they are doing a 36 point check thing, acf 50 anti corrosion spray and free collection for £70 in the email i got back from them so going to give them a ring tommorow to see exactly what the 36 point check entails as that seems fairly reasonable and then if anything is amiss and needs sorting then ill know. it pretty much has full history up until the last 8000 miles where the last owner has done all oil and filter changes himself but no other fluid or valve clearance work.

one other thing ive noticed is that the bars seem just a little bit too bar away and at a stretch as i have quite short arms what can be done to bring them a little closer?

36 point check for 70 quid?

:blast

You could do it all yourself, and rectify the problems as well, for the same...probably (I may be doing them a disservice there as obviously i dont know exactly what their list covers)

Just get stuck in to reading things here.....Tobinators and lights I'd totally agree with...Ignore Ash and his wally flaps, he's a lovely chap but he's just trying to make you look silly by suggesting you fit those monstrosities :blast

Adventure bike warehouse also gets a thumbs up here....do a search on them and you'll see they have a very good rep...

Oh, your tax disc holder is a credit to you by the way :thumb2

I'm slightly puzzled by your exhaust....it appears to have a y piece, but original can......that's a slightly odd combination, but wth, it should work :)

As you seem to like the red seats, I'd suggest you ge an adv beak protector (cheap they are) to stop it looking too mincing.....and some sensible tyres like TKCs rather than those racing slicks it's currently got :thumb2

Enjoy it....it's every bike you want it to be, jack of all trades albeit master of none :thumb

i know im just no mechanic and would quite like the idea of having it checked over by someone who knows the bikes well.

tax disc holder????

its a remus middle section apparently with original at the rear. no idea why.

ive been watching the beaks on ebay and just missed out on one the other day. and the tyres are tourances if thats spelt right, i thought they were the tyres of choice.

Mine came with Tobinators fitted - I thought they're probably some daft 'must have' extra like headlight guards so I took them off. Buffeting was terrible so they went back on - they do make a difference :thumb
I also find the bars too far forward and will get/make risers that put the bars back as well... when I can get round to it. There were a set on here for sale a while back but may have been for 1200 (although maybe they're the same) kinda like these eBay

beaks are not costly from BMW dealers :thumb

It does work, very well. It's what i've been using for 6 years along with many others .

.

Because it works.
And it's quiet.
Instead of all the noise of a remus end can which is monotomously tiring when doing long rides.

Screen

Screen
Wunderlich engine bars
Fog lights for the above
Rubber foot protector thingys if you're planning long journeys in the wet or extreme cold
Pillion grab strap (originally supplied with BMW top box) useful for pillions and getting bike onto centre stand
Oh and did I mention screen (Givi is good - but many choices)

I used to run a Remus Y piece with a standard can on my old R1150GS, reason? It's quieter, it does away with the CAT so it breathes easier and it doesn't melt your rear indicator or lhs pannier like an end can may do. (Yes, I know it doesn't happen to everyone).

Oh yes, and do the Steptoe link too :thumb
