Or for that matter any premium product. The latest been Samsung foldable phone. It breaks after 2 days :augie Or Boeing, or VW. I had the 2013 GS LC model and it didn't kill me

The 2013 LC was fab, the old 1150 crowd back then were worse than the current KTM numpties in their hate for the new bike - it’s alright now because most of them and their gutless old bikes are now dead :D

Lets not get all moist and horny. The first one lasted 2 days - dumped all the oil from the engine. How I didn't die is a miracle, the oil went over the back wheel:D. The second one lasted 6 months. However the dealer was excellent. My latest standard GS LC 2016 model is fine:thumb2

The 2013 lc wasn't all that fab, have you forgotten already about the failing alternators, gearbox and clutch issues , paint flaking off engine casings and in a number of reported cases wiring loom failures.

Matter of a few months after their release I was talking to a group of Austrian lads on the Grossglockner, of the group all were in GS/GSA tc models apart from two on brand new V Strom 1000's .

They were quick to point out that the Suzukis were hire bikes and they were GS lc owners ............................. both owned bikes with less than 1000 kms on the clock that were sitting in dealers waiting for new gearboxes.

Or the Dutch tourist and LC owner who's bike in less than 12 months had 2 alternators , various other electrical components and had just been returned with a full wiring harness swap (and he pointed out that he knew of a good many others with the same issues).

I have been a BMW beta tester with an early GSA LC and I would never again buy a BMW motorcycle from the first 18 months of production.................. my original old gutless 1999 r1150gs is still going strong albeit with another owner , as for my 14 plate GSA it was part exed ,sat in a dealers for a while and since then has not been tested, taxed nor insured . I have an inkling that it may have gone back to Germany having spent the first 3 months of its life fitted with a BMW telemetric data recorder (sending info downloads back to the factory )to find out exactly why it was so sh*te

The 2013 was shit. Mine went back to BMW as the forks/ frame weren’t put together properly. :blast

The Goldilocks bike seems to be model year 16.5 or 17 pre TFT, all the beta testing out of the way, all the right features, proper wheels that don’t fall apart, brakes that work, these are the bikes to get, unless of course you know better........

I've got a Goldilocks bike

2017 Euro4 GSA Triple Black, post gearbox upgrade, pre-TFT.

OBD2 data port so you can connect your Smartphone and do service resets, fault code reading etc

Hill Start Assist enabled, sweet as a nut this bike is.....

You only need a cheap Chinese 10 pin to OBDII cable to connect to the pre OBDII connector bikes.

Well my new 1250 goes into the dealers Monday for its first service so will see if they highlight any issue with the brakes, I hope not as I’m off to Scotland on Thursday with my son and a couple of mates doing the NC500. I think the bike is fantastic the new engine is great and the gearbox so much smoother than my previous LC and Hexhead.
Fingers crossed lol.
Well the first service has been done and the TFT updated which took quite a while I asked about the brake issue and whilst they have not had any issue on the dozen or so they have sold they are aware of it.
Fingers crossed it gets sorted for anyone with the issue.

Ditto my 2013 LC was perfect no probs whatsoever but my mate had terrible gearbox issues after 2000 miles.

Well aren’t I the smug one..... my first GS was a 2010 TC often thought to be the tried and tested (by the beta testers:green gri) and my second one is a March 2017 so I have aced it. :thumb2

My 2011 developed a very bad knock at 24K... so that went. and my mates 2017 gearbox went on his LC at 13K!!... :(
