Hello All,

Does anyone know if it is possible to purchase a new R1250GSA with heated grips, but without keyless and chrome exhaust. The configurator does not allow only heated grips, has to be part of the Comfort Pack. Question is can a dealer fit the Heated Grips if they aren't spec'd as a factory option?

Thanks

Jeff

Perhaps the dealer should be the target for such a question ?

would maybe need a different right switch etc those plus the grips themselves are dear , why not just get the package

I’ve asked but not had a reply yet, speaking to them tomorrow so will hopefully find out then. Thought someone on here may know and no harm in asking.

Best of luck. I hope they are able to fulfill your request :D :okay

I've got a 20 plate GSA . Ordered it as a basic model, without keyless, with heated grips, stainless exhaust is standard, cruise control, aux lights, pannier frames, ESA no cost option, etc. No packages at all as they all had something I didn't want so spec'd exactly what suited me . The dealers try to talk you out of it saying it will be difficult to sell etc. but thats just bollocks . I saved about £3000 over a 1250GSA TE . I've had 5 basic 1200's in the past, all about £4000 cheaper than what the dealer wanted to sell me and when I sold them privately about 2/3 years later they were only about £1500 cheaper than fully spec'd models and sold within 2 weeks so I figure I won in each case . They are built to order and del. time on mine was quoted at 10 weeks but delivered in 5 weeks

Having done similar in the past it now looks according to the current configerator that most of the separate options are off the table unless you buy them in multiple 'packs' with a load of stuff you do not want.
I think that my days of buying new BMW motorcycles has come to an end .

Mine have all been basic models in the past with the addition of heated grips & on the last GSA I added the fog lights. As I keep my bikes for a long time, still have my 2001 1150 and the GSA is 2012 any ‘reduced’ value on resale is irrelevant. I suspect when I speak to the dealer today I won’t get the answer I’d like.

If the configurator is the only way to spec a bike then I’ll be keeping my 2012 GSA. It is still ‘mint’ and rides well. Probably upgrade the suspension with some aftermarket ones and keep it for a few more years.

I’ve been using the RT configurator. Adding the daytime riding lights doesn’t cost £105 as advertised but £1500:eek: since they’re only supplied along with Dynamic ESA and adaptive headlights.

I’m with Neil on this. My current GS was also a basic model, specced with the extras I would use. Fortunately it was bought as a keeper, so I will not be paying extra for stuff I don’t need or want.

How odd, as other bikes still allow you to spec each feature separately. It’s inconsistent as a 1250TE has everything (pretty much) whereas other “TE” bikes have rather less in terms of spec. I could be tempted by a 1250 but like some here I’d only want heated grips (think centre stand and TFT are stock). If that’s no longer an option then a 1250 is not for me - prices are becoming silly now anyway, and this matters now that I only buy cash rather than via finance.
