I've just fitted a new pair of shocks, taken off a 2k old 1150 gsa about 3 years ago, and have been stored in a garage since.

The rear shock rebound adjustment is causing me an issue, bouncing the rear with the adjustment as high as it will go and the back come up nice and slowly. Slacken the adjuster just 1/2 a turn and the back end now shoots up as though its just on the spring. With no further change for the other 6 turns.

Could this just be something stuck after storage and needs some use or is the shock goosed?

No good just staring at it or expecting an answer on the internet to fix it.

Take it for a ride with plenty of bounce and see what it's like when you get back

If the shock is stock, it's a WAD damper. WAD is German for :blast something, something else in german, ...Ah, Dampfung...:blast bloody red wine!

This means it has travel related damping, i.e. as the speed of the compression increases, the damping increases. You cannot 'set these up' or test them just by 'bouncing' the bike stationary, (i take it thats what youre doing?0.

As Steptoe says, just ride it and see what it's like.
