I’ve fancied a posh fly reel for a while and finally decided on one, ordered last week from Mortimer’s in Grantown, my local agent who beat any price i could see on the internet. And I prefer to put business locally.

Apparently the warranty doesn’t include a guarantee that I’ll catch the best brown trout ever, but it also doesn’t say I won’t. And I decided I deserved a wee present.IMG_1325.jpeg

Quality piece of kit (y) You'll enjoy using that.
We all deserve a wee present. I just bought a 4/6 wt Danielsson Dry Fly reel at 30% off, direct from Sweden. Seems the factory were having a stock clearance and it fits nicely into the other sizes of Danielssons I already have. Christened it yesterday on the river with two wee brownies :)

I know exactly nothing about fishing…..

But I do know that that thing is beautifully designed, made and packaged……

Planning a trip up to the lochs near Thurso where I’ve bought a permit for, if I don’t get out locally before then. I bought the wee travel rod and that was the excuse to buy a nice, compact reel.
And yes, nice kit is nice kit whether it’s a reel, a shock, a knife or whatever. The quality justifies the price.

It’s great to be able to treat yourself now and then, regardless of whatever hobby or pleasure you enjoy. That fishing reel looks like something to cherish and enjoy.

Admittedly I’ve spent a bit more than perhaps I should on quality footwear, clothes and watches because I enjoy the feeling of being fit, groomed and well heeled.

Having lost a good pal to cancer not that long ago and having seen other friends and colleagues die young, I have no guilt in enjoying the fruits of my labours.

I spent enough years grafting to put two kids and my Wife through University, so now I have a bit of cash available, why not?

I know nothing about fly fishing but that looks like a very nice reel! :thumb2

Of course I could run it in for you in S Uist....just bought the ferry tickets....May 25th...but as Lochboisdale hasn't seen a ferry for weeks its a bit of a lottery..

Splendid stuff. I’d put it out on display as a work of art, which it really is. It’d be next to a Nitron shock, and a small set of Snap-On sockets. Good stuff is just brilliant
The Nitron shock that I had made for my 800 DE VStrom ,,, is certainly an improvement 👍👍 - a quality item 👍
