you'll get abused even more now?

Nah, the tossers are quite tolerant really.

Might be different if he operates a camera van though. Even I might give him some...:monkeypiz :crossbone

I have nothing to do with camera vans or traffic. I still get a warm glow when I see a disabled gatso. But I'll put my hands up to being a prolific writer of tickets but for one thing only. Since the law changed I have probably written over 100 mobile phone tickets. Plod isn't what I am , it's what I do to pay for things like my GS cos I'm too thick to get a proper job. I get paid to ride and that suits me fine. Abuse?.. bring it on!!!.:D

Mr Peers, do you remember a certain President Bush saying "Bring it on!", to certain iraquis? hope you dont get a kicking like the poor yank squaddies!

Please write lots of tickets for gits with one hand on their mobile , one on the gear stick and their minds nowhere!

Well I'm only a little fella but people are probably put off giving me a kicking as I am armed :shoot: , but mobiles are my pet hate, how many of us have had close calls with people using them and driving?

Unfortunately the rides are broken by the requirement to stand outside Scotland yard or Downing Street etc with an MP5 :mcgun and body armour breaking your back.

Plus in summer it's hard to concentrate on riding with all those girls bouncing about the streets.:boobies.

And there was me thinking the DPG were gurkhas who rarely put pen to paper.:D :D

Notice how the mention of one of H&K's finest MP5's has made everyone like you now! Funny how the earlier abuse has terminated.

Bonjour.

Here's me "on duty"

The RT and Sprint ST both look fabulous and are 'quality' items. The Triumph is already sold out and expect the RT to have a waiting list straight out of the blocks too.

I thought the ST looked a complete abortion. The lines don't flow, it's got shades of sV650 in there and that headlight and screen arrangement; haven't seen anythign so nasty since I sold my MultiStrada.

Gixer thou and the GS were the only things worth looking at apart from RT and Sprint. What's funny is that I spent about 15 minutes sitting ont he GS12, playign with the throttle and switches and so forth.... when I've had my own for several months now! Ah, kids eh!

The £10,700 is the start price and doesn't include grips. You could spend £13k on one, and then the Pan/FJ1300 options looks good value. By comparison the GS is excellent value compared to other brands, so the GS especially the GSA still gets my vote.

The FJR1300 is £10600 with ABS. Panniers are an extra £500. Compared to the RT price of £10700 with ABS and panniers. The Pan with ABS and panniers comes in at £11300.

Got a test ride on Tuesday whilst the GS is being serviced. Looking forward to it with an open mind.

I popped over to Allan Jeffries today to have a look and I liked it.

Basically, it looked like a 1200GS with extra bodywork; very comfy with (I assume) great weatherprotection but without the lard ofthe older RT and Pan etc.

They also had about 10 new R1200GS's in the showroom (ready for March 1st I assume) and five K1200S's - the engine problems have now been sorted.

I also picked up a R1200ST brochure and the looks have grown on me - I can't makemy mindup whether to buy a GS or ST now

The K1200S is lacking in pillion accommodation and luggage capacity.

Seen the bike and rode the the bike at the press launch.

Is a great handler is a lot lighter than it looks, is well priced when you think that an RT 5 years ago cost around the same, and the new Yam is more expensive.

Build is the best on the market, i have ordered one and happy with it. All the press liked the bike also, and it was well tried out.

I test rode a 1200RT today. Took the Balderston demonstrator out for two hours on a cold afternoon. :-)

Likes

1) The outside temperature gauge that warned me several times that it was close to freezing with the little frost indicator

2) The heated seat - I had thought it was a gimic. Then I tried it on setting one. Nearly cooked my piles!!! I did not try setting two - dealer said it was not advisable (I can believe him)

3) Seat was comfy and I felt I could have ridden for hundreds of miles on it.

Niggles

1) The gear lever is too high. On my R1100RT I have it in the lower setting. On the 1200RT it was so high for me that I was having to lift my foot off the peg everytime I wanted to change down. This resulted in a good few goofed down changes just before corners!

2) The outer edge of my legs seemed to receive a lot more wind blast than on my 1100RT - My lower legs and feet were actually getting quite cold by the time I got back to the shop.

3) In order to deflect the wind blast from my face I had to have the screen up very high and when in town I did not get any wind on the lid and the visor started to mist up.

4) I found it did not seem to want to turn in on right hand bends. I seemed to have to wrestle it around a few of them.

5) The suspension seemed very choppy after my RT. I know this is a new bike and my 1100RT suspension is probably very tired. However I went out on a 1200 GS immediately after riding the RT and thought the GS suspension was more compliant.

The new RT simply did not "Ring my bell".

So much so that I immediately took a 1200 GS out for a quick 25 minute pootle.

There was more wind blast on my legs, more wind blast on my shoulders. It turned in quicker. It was more nimble.

I came back with a smile.

I am sleeping on the decision :D :D

Chris :D :D
