Has anyone had a chance to judge whether the new RT is less thirsty for oil its early miles? Also what about mpg?

Mine has 2300 on the clock. Following a trip to the Nurbergring area it needed 250ml to top up to the top line in the glass.

2800 miles done including 8 days in France .No visible oil used as yet and averaging 54 mpg .A lot of that was motorway.

similar here 2200 miles was serviced at 690 miles , new fresh oil , not needed a top up yet averaging 54 to the gallon ….love it

I did about 2000 in a week at the start of May (France, Switzerland, Italy, Germany) with my brother on his new WC. No oil ued and 56mpg. I was on his "old" R1200RTSE (2011) wth no oil used and 54.5 mpg.

So back to back the WC has improved the fuel by 1.5mpg.

2000+ miles on the bike now, and she's not burning any oil
As for fuel, i'm getting between 45 - 55 mpg.

45mpg - two up fully loaded and cruising at 95mph
55mpg - solo on A/B roads.

Had a scary moment yesterday though, when i ran my fuel range indicator down lower than i'd planed.....

Had 3 RTs. The first used a little oil. The twin cam used none between services. Ditto my 2014 RT. I do about 6000m a year. RTs preceded by 3 GSs. Had a GS during recall & did 900m. Lovely bike but relieved to get my RT back!

5300miles now inc. 1600mls mostly spent at 100mph fully loaded with pillion and luggage.

No oil used and 48mpg average.
God, this bike is sooo good.

Same as Martyn, the first one used oil but Twin cam and the new LC no oil used BUT put it in 'Dynamic' mode and see the MPG drop
but 'Oh my'....What a buzz.

So far, GREAT BIKE!

6600 miles on mine now and it's not used a drop of oil. It now averages 59 mpg on A/B roads, that will drop on motorway runs obviously. I changed the tyres at 5.5k, the original Contis were well shot by then. It's freeing up nicely and continues to be amazing.

Read with interest. I have a 2014RT bought new Sept. Used nearly every day for work it replaced my old rt1150. So far 4700 miles..i don't rag it like my Suzuki but do like to get a proper shift on. Averages 50mpg..old rt 42mpg...needed 1/2 ltr of oil 500 miles ago. My commutes a mixture of 90 mph motorway and quick A roads followed by battling through a major city every morning and evening.

I would love to know how you are getting 59mpg and yet knackered the Contis at 5.5k....i had to change my rear tyre at 1000 miles, thanks to some builder dropping 4" nails on the road...but I haven't even flatted the rear yet. Do they just fall off a cliff, so to speak, shape and tread wise?

My RT LC was 5 months old yesterday and has now covered 7300 miles. Oil consumption zero. Average fuel 54 mpg. Contis changed at 6300 miles, front OK but back well squared off and centre tread down to less than 2 mm. Half my milage has been with a pillion. Just to complete the record water pump leaked a dribble for the first 3000 miles now cured itself, no leaks. I love this bike.
