Hi Folks

Having just bought myself a shiney brand new Schuberth C3 helmet I was disappointed that it hasnt significantly reduced the wind noise from my
08 GSA standard screen. :toungincheekNot that I really ever expected it to although it is significantly quieter than my six year old system 4 helmet. I should add that I'm 6ft - 1-1/2" tall. I then set about trying to optimise the position of the screen to try inprove the situation. The screen had previously been in the mid position.

Firstly, with screen in the highest position the effects of buffeting were even worse and handling the bike in a strongish cross wind was like trying to handle a sailing dinghy in a force 8 !! and the buffeting noise was horrendous.

Next with the screen in its lowest position the handling of the bike was transformed for the better and I guess the MPG was also improved but with my head now in a high velocity air flow the noise was unacceptable, even in my shiny new Schuberth C3 !!

What next, a good set of ear plugs ?? thanks in anticipation of the your advice.

A Happy and Peaceful Christmas to All Regards Mickfinn

Plugs or monitors from Ultimate Ears are what you need. My monitors were £175, which admittedly is a hell of a lot of money for a pair of ear plugs with speakers, but if I lost them I’d buy another pair immediately, they’re that good.

(And I use a C3).

I always ride with ear plugs in ( made to fit my ears about 4 years ago).

best thing you can do is use ear plugs..... once your hearing is damaged by wind noise, it doesnt come back !

and....it makes a long trip soooooo much less tiring.

get some custom made ear plugs is my best advice, or suffer loss of hearing in the long run. they are easy to use, and you get used to putting them in EVERY time you ride (even 10 inutes trips to the shops)

+1 for earplugs. You can try another screen and it may or may not improve your noise problem but earplugs will definately help on this bike and any other you might ride.
Get plugged up first and you can try different screens later. :thumb2

Many thanks for your comments folks, some sound advice. I'm persuing the ear plugs as a prioirty and as you say experimenting with the screen can follow when I have a better understanding of the problem and the possible solutions.

Earplugs and the screen in the highest position works for me and I'm the same height as you
