After Several weeks and a couple of trial runs, here are some pics of the new seat.
I have only done a couple of short runs so can't really comment on long distance comfort yet, but initially it feels very good.
After long discussion with the upholsterer i decided to go with a firm foam rather than gel inserts.
I told him what i wanted he then reshaped and added foam to some area's i.e. the pillion area and made this area slightly bigger.
I took the seat and tried it on the bike on two occasions before final covering.
The one thing we did decide to do,was to remove the plastic in the seat base that formed the toolkit recess, this was replaced by a solid piece of firm foam which increased comfort considerably,as with the toolkit recess in place and much of the foam removed in that area the plastic tended to dig into the lower spine area and was very uncomfortable.
I was lucky that the company that did it were local to me,so i could keep fiddling with the final shape.
I can now get the ball's of my feet on the floor and am well pleased with the look of the final product, only tme will tell if it's comfy for both Joanne and myself.
Final cost not including doner seat was £172. which i thought was ok and was only £10 more than his origional quote.

Looks good,i dont usualy like these blingy seats but thats a nice look.Hope it works out really comfy for you guys......:Motomartin

that looks fine.

Now lets see... £172 for something thats been made specifically for you versus. (as an example) £479. for a plain black Sargent seat that may (or may not) be comfy or about the same for the Corbin.

no contest IMHO. :thumb2

Done 103mls this afternoon,so far so good feels firm but no discomfort :thumb2

Nice seat Steve, very smart, without being over the top. Who did the work?

Steve,
Tks for the info on your new seat. Can I ask whether you tried the BM "low-seat" version before going down this route - and if so what was the difference in height? I too am a 29", love the GS too bits, but occasionally just get a little aggrieved at not being able to firmly plant a foot. This could be my answer to nirvana.

Hi Dean,
I did try the low seat, but it was still a tad to tall
The seat is now about 1" lower than the low seat and it has made a massive difference,i can get balls of both feet down and with a pillion i can get them almost flat, although i am happy enough with just the balls of my feet down.
But as with many things there is a down side, that being that the screen is now slightly too tall and at times i am having to look through the screen which i don't like.
I am going to try an MRA vario screen. But i still feel the seat was money well spent.

Thanks for that - as we know its that all important inch that really counts. Sounds like there is going to be a phone call made to Hull next week. Was also thinking about screen height so thanks for your thoughts, still I am of the opinion that its a small trade-off. Then again there is always the next gadget.

now you had the seat for a while is there anything you'd change about your design?
how is the comfort now you've had time to test it?
