After Several weeks and a couple of trial runs, here are some pics of the new seat.
I have only done a couple of short runs so can't really comment on long distance comfort yet, but initially it feels very good.
After long discussion with the upholsterer i decided to go with a firm foam rather than gel inserts.
I told him what i wanted he then reshaped and added foam to some area's i.e. the pillion area and made this area slightly bigger.
I took the seat and tried it on the bike on two occasions before final covering.
The one thing we did decide to do,was to remove the plastic in the seat base that formed the toolkit recess, this was replaced by a solid piece of firm foam which increased comfort considerably,as with the toolkit recess in place and much of the foam removed in that area the plastic tended to dig into the lower spine area and was very uncomfortable.
I was lucky that the company that did it were local to me,so i could keep fiddling with the final shape.
I can now get the ball's of my feet on the floor and am well pleased with the look of the final product, only tme will tell if it's comfy for both Joanne and myself.
Final cost not including doner seat was £172. which i thought was ok and was only £10 more than his origional quote.
