Hi.

Been on the 1250 now for 5000 or so miles and one thing really bugs me, I just always feel like I want to sit a bit further back, due to my circus orangutang arms and an old back injury, and lean slightly forward. When I sit on the ridge between the front and rear seats that just feels about right to me but obviously due to the pillion seat being higher it's not too comfy. Do I need one of those one piece Rallye seats or are there other options?

Thanks.

You could change your riding posture and save yourself a few quid.

Would it help if you rotated the bars forward ?

I too have a bad back (4 degenerating discs in my lower back) plus 3 discs replaced in my neck and found similar to you on my R1250GS. In my case I fitted the Wunderlich up and back risers, move the rear seat to its backward position and changed the front seat for a Wunderlich unit - which provides additional back support over the standard seat. All that, combined with a set of Cool Covers have made my GS a lot more comfortable for me to ride over the past 15k miles I've completed since making the changes.

Have you set the seat up correctly?? They can be adjusted and if I remember I have it high at the front and low at the back so its much more comfy

Seat = High Front, Low Back = air hawk on “just enough” and Up n Back bar risers……..

All day comfy…

Plus a Harley for the really long trips… (easy 500 mile days on my RoadKing.)

If you use the front seat mount ( the metal part with the two rubbers ) off the r1200rt lc it lifts the front of the seat, alt Cymarc does eccentric mounting rubbers

I had the rallye seat with cool cover on mine for 5 years (36000 miles) and found it allday comfy. You can get different heights of the rallye.

Last month bought a Wunderlich front standard height comfort seat from Nippy Norman, reduced from £399.90 down to £299.90, fitted easily, all that was required was putting on the new front clamps and rear clamps, 2 x lowering bars from the original seat, and the rubber elastic, simple enough to do. All parts included for your bike model, with the choice of raised, standard, lowered, or heated.
This week bought the rear Wunderlich pillion seat again from Nippy Norman reduced from £299.90 down to £199.90. Good saving on what I class as a very well produced new seat for comfort and less bum numbing. Delivery is within 2-5 days depending on your location and expertly packaged for a safe journey.

Pictures to follow once rear seat arrives, and fitted today, hopefully.

Tip for adjusting your seated position, sit in your comfortable position on your bike while its level and on the main stand, then closing your eyes raise both arms upwards, keeping eyes closed drop both arms down to what feels natural to yourself without moving the rest of your body on the bike, see where your arms rest on or not.
That is the position too aim for your handlebars, adjustment as previously mentioned either rotate bars backwards or forward, or get yourself some bar risers, which will possibly help.
It might be easier if a friend can watch as you drop your arms as to where they land. Even taking a short video to review and send on here for a few laughs.. :D "circus orangutang arms", wanna see them.

As promised, my all new Wunderlich Standard height, non-heated seats fitted last night.
Saving of £200.00 on both from Nippy's.
