New Shoei Neotec for 2018

Arsey, I think you may be surprised with the neotec comms, mine arrived yesterday and I quickly fitted into the lid, instructions are a little vague, plenty of pictures tho. The hardest part was getting the original plastic side pods off, mine were a bitch to remove .

Anyways I suffer with tinnitus 24/7 and I always wear plugs (ultimate) on motorway sections I listen to music to block out the tinnitus and need to be able to hear my mate especially when above 50 mph, I've not had chance to actually use the comms on a bike however my first thoughts are that its going to be perfect, having purchased the c4 with comms I would deffo say the SRL is much better in fact it's bloody loud compared to the c4, my wife could hear the music way above the TV and making a few tel calls meant I had to turn the volume right down on the SRL.

Next test on the bike.

In the days of the wired Autocom they always said to make sure the speaker is right opposite the ear canal. Presumably there is no ability to adjust the speaker position with these custom systems

Tom

This is my problem. The speakers are fixed in place. They get noticeably louder if I twist the helmet on my head. There is no doubt in my mind best sound quality will be gained from in ear speakers when on long faster runs but I prefer the ease of helmet speakers on my mainly urban commute.

Sounds good !

Perhaps I’ll order then . Where did you get yours from ?

I see the Motocard discount code now expired .

Lid direct, unfortunately I never got any additional discount, I did ask tho. I was happy to pay list because Melissa's customer service had been exceptional, she sent me both M / S lids to try postage free.

I'm sure if you call ask for Melissa and mention you got the details off this forum they may apply some discount, I did say today that I would post feedback on several forums.

Also, just purchased the TC6 from Melissa and she immediately gave me the discount over the phone and free returns and replacement if I've ordered the wrong size. Excellent! I tried a size large last Monday and found it just a millimetre too snug but I'm hoping the padding will compress a little over time.........is that the case or am I being a little optimistic? The XL was too big and I'm thinking that I'll always have the option of a smaller skull cap thickness if required (7mm verses the standard 11mm I believe).

I too am after the Sena Comms but currently use the Interphone Sport with ear plugs (Ultimate as I also suffer 24/7/365 tinnitus) so please post your results.

Regards, Al

Strangely I found the medium neotec 2 slightly different to my previous Neotec ie not as snug, the small felt snug but left hot spots on my forehead so opted for med and purchased the thicker m13 scull and 39 cheek pads .

Thanks for the feedback DING-DONG. I suppose that I could always do that with the XL as well.......It arrives tomorrow so I'll where indoors for a while and see how I feel.

Regards, Al

Its not the heaviest helmet, but I still wouldn't want most of 2 kg on my head in an accident.

If anyone finds the volume not loud enough, download the app to your phone and turn on audio boost, now complain my ear drums are bleeding.

Well I'm not sure which of the following has contributed the most but I can now hear music clearly at motorway speeds. Firstly as above, activate the audio boost, secondly there is new firmware which may have helped but the best gain I suspect was un pairing the TFT and connecting directly from the phone to the headset. You loose some functionality and the fancy graphics in the media section but with voice control on the SRL I don't miss it. It's now working as I'd hoped it would.

Any idea when Shoei might have different coloured visors available for it ?? at the moment I can only see clear visors available.

(please don't state the obvious to me, the original Neotec has all the visors available)

Why not use a tinted pinlock ! I'm using the pinlock out of my xspirit/neotec it's the cw1 and fit is fine .

I use a half tint pinlock and a light smoke visor on my Neotec and would like to do the same if I purchase the Neotec 2

They are only new......the tinted range of visors will probably be along shortly.

Warm ride home today around 4pm, with vents open I can confirm the ventilation seemed pretty good indeed.

Very happy with the revision version of the Neotec

I've had a couple of Multitecs, then tried the original Neotec but found it too narrow. Just got the Neotec 2 which seems like a return to the more conventional Shoei head shape, very pleased with it so far.

Could do with a darker sun visor though - can't readily find any replacements online, anyone know of a supplier?

Can't be arsed looking through all these pages, but is the 2 any quieter than the original?

Have had mine for a couple of weeks now. I hemmed and hawed for a while and tried the Arai Carbon and the BMW system 7. Neither felt right and the BMW felt cheap and cardboardy. Went for the Neotec after a forum member posted about the discount from Lids Direct. Its a lovely helmet. The quality is obvious from the start, in the materials and the comfy fit. The details such as the hinge mechanism and the positive click when fully open show this too. Very little noise although I always ride with plugs anyway. Only issue I have had is a lack of air when the front was opened. I then opened the top vent and hey presto. Doh!

Did 600 miles run to hardknott pass and back today whilst wearing the neotec 2 the first 250 miles it started to feel uncomfortable pinching my forehead and gave me headache, today was a different story very comfortable and no longer pinches my forehead, it's much quieter than the original neotec and the C4, comms @ 85 whilst wearing plugs was also fine and could hear my mate clearly. Battery life it much better then the interphone.
