Last year I managed to get a set of Avon Trail Riders at a bargain price, and I also recently bought a OlmaxMotors Tirechanger (with BMW GS rear wheel adaptor for mounting on the changer and wheel balancing). Even though the Bridgestone’s still have a fair amount of tread left, it’s not handling as I like, so its time to change.

The OlmaxMotors tyre changer works very well, although its quite hard to keep the changer from moving on the floor. But still, it makes changing the tyres much, much easier, than by doing it with tyre levers, and no marks or scratches to the rims. If the OlmaxMotors was solidly mounted, it would of been a breeze to do. I’ll be looking to do something, like some sort stand to fix to the floor or to stand on.

Now to the avon Trail Riders, early days (no rain experience yet), but I really like these tyres. They feel really confidence inspiring, track really nice without the bike wandering all over the place on the bad road surfaces, and for some reason, not sure I’m imagining it, they make the ride feel more comfortable.

Overall, a big :thumb2 for both the OlmaxMotors Tirechanger and the Avon Trail Riders. :thumb2

Trailriders are a very capable tyre, however the offroad bias is limited, If i recall its a 90/10 bias.

I had a set on my Hexhead to replace the Karoo 3's , huge difference, quieter, smoother, and very good levels of grip , both dry and wet.

Fronts lasted to 6K, the rears though do square off from about 4K, but will get to around 6k + depending on what type of riding you do.

Trying to get a second set was near on impossible, and i ended up with Tourances, Initially skeptical, ( they took for ever to bed in) , they started to

be just as capable as the Trailriders.

The wethead i have now =, has Tourance Nexts on them, the back is squared, so they need to go.

Trailriders are A) Near on impossible to source, B) No good pair deals around, so as individual tyres are bloody expensive.

The Tourances, i can get a reasonable deal on, but would prefer to go back to the Trail riders

I bought mine from M & P on eBay last year, if memory serves me right, I paid £140 delivered for the pair, the front one being the most expensive. I will certainly be keeping an eye out for another set.

You'll be lucky,

Best prices i can find at the moment are

Singles but as a pair - no deals

Trailriders - £212.47 Black circles

Tourance - £160.26 M&P (using 10% coupon)

Big jump from £159 for a pair of Trailriders

The Tourances are about £20 more expensive than last year

I spoke to M&P and asked about Trailrider pair deals

They said if they can get the tyres, they can discount them, but they are getting very limited supplies at the moment

Sorry to crash this.

Please can you send a link to the tyre changer?

Thanks Mike

Just watched a clip on the tube showing the tyre changer. Where can I get one, with all the GS bits?

This is the guy who makes them and who I bought mine from. Your need to make sure you get the BMW rear wheel adaptor, for tyre mounting and balancing, and if you don’t already own a balance stand, you’ll want one of those. He does do all of these.

As I said previously, it works very well, but it does need solidly mounting, to prevent the whole assembly moving, as you rotate the handle. But this can be dealt with, by mounting to a bench or making a stand. :thumb2

Pity the trail rider prices are high, They were as Allready mentioned comfortable and capable even wet weather,
The olmax changer looks to be the least destructive easy to use hobby Changer,
I did make a few rear wheel Balancing adapters For tossers a while back,
