Received new swingarm bearings and bushes today. Was just trying them out on the desk and the feel a bit floppy, does this seem correct? Will they tighten up when packed with grease? Or is this meerly the cages moving slightly?

Put a bearing at each end of the pin then try it but you won't replicate the outer TWO bearings being help in line!
They'll be fine:beerjug:

Ok cool. Do the bearings have a correct orientation as one side looks flatter (the side with the writing on) than the other?

No they be the same either way around although if one end is flatter I'd be inclined to fit the other end first if there's more of a 'lead' on the corner, be careful to fit them square and without the needles dropping out .........like what happened to me earlier this week on a KTM swing arm!:blast

I use Red and Tacky Grease but any that's sticky and water proof will be ok and it'll also help hold the needles in place when fitting
