New Taller BMW Screen

Taller BMW screen

How much are you asking for the taller screen? I take it that being a BMW OEM it is polycarbonate and not acrylic.

I had a large bird strike a few weeks ago which hit and broke the O/S hand guard pushing the brake lever onto my knuckles. Having experienced the force of the impact I don't fancy trusting an acylic screen.

No problem - I'm glad to help jarjao.

I bought a couple from Chicago BMW via a relative in the States.

So I do have one spare - PM me if you're interested.

Although I was lucky and didn't pay any import duty, I did have to pay admin charges from the carrier and USA insisted that they could only send surface rate.

Well worth it as far as I'm concerned.

Hi Ironandsteel!

Thanks a lot for your info.

A couple of weeks ago I have in fact contacted Chicago BMW regarding the new screen, but unfortunately they told me they could not ship the screen overseas.
Since I was in a rush to fit a new screen (trip coming soon) I ended up buying an ADV screen, which is being fitted at the mo at the dealer (together with the winglets).

Many thanks for your offer on your spare screen, if I had not bought the ADV one I would certainly take advantage of your offer! :thumb2 The new screen looks good, seems to performe very well and the price is great!

Safe riding!:)

Hi Ironandsteel

I sent a pm on thursday about the screen

The GSA screen

".....I will most likely go ahead with the purchase of the ADV screen. Should I also install the ADV winglets? " Why not, They are easy to fit and although i did not really notice much difference some people have felt they were further reduced turbulencet. I think that it is the extra support on the GSA screen which makes it a better (and more expensive) screen than the others. The top support also provides an ideal mounting for your GPS.

talking of screens I have just got a second hand tinted one for my 1200 GS. I know you have to take out the two front screws and the black bits that screw in the side. You obviously have to undo the inner bolt and take the fittings off and put on the other screen. Advice appreciated. thks

hi ironandsteel is the screen still available,if so please call on 07836 329100

cheers

Yes, I found that it's best to loosen the sides, remove the front two bolts taking care to catch the nuts, washers and possibly the swivel spigots that fit in the tubular brace; remove the side bolts (again, take care not to drop the seating nuts!) and replace in the reverse order.
Keep everything loose until you're ready to tighten in your preferred position, tighten the front bolts and then the sides.
Check after the first few rides.
