Went to our bike club meet last night and our Yamaha dealer Adam brought over the bike for us all to look over. Sitting on it feels just like a GS. The finish is top notch. It looks much better than the pics in MCN. The Ducati is very nice but for me I would give this a try. I would say BMW may have a serious contender here. knowing how good Yam shafties are, bet we don't see many pulled apart like the GS. I think the GS is a great bike but.. the 1200 in my MHO is let down by the poor finish. It is pretty crap compared to my old 1150. Still I guess they call it progress. 13.5k with panniers. Bikes are getting daft prices, well for me they are. Have a good week-end. If any of you are in the area of Norwich look up Tinklers Norththumberland st.01603 627786. Not in anyway connected to them just giving you all a chance to go and have a ride out. Only 150 in the uk for this year apparently. also not many dealers have a demo. Dave:D
 
I would really like to have a test ride on one of them but where has them?,I'd be very suspicious of anyone who bought one without having a test ride first,maybe if I send a press photo of my GSA and a note saying its great they'd give me a px valuation or do you thing they'd need to see the real thing first:augie

I would have thought that the review should have compared the GSA against the Ten myself, rather than the GS :nenau

Anyway, bikes are all about personal preference. I for one wouldn't even contemplate the Ten as the looks do absolutely nothing for me

Absolutely true - its why I'm waiting delivery of a Multistrada :bounce1. Someone's described it as the love child of a GS and RSVR so it sounds perfect to me :D
 
just passing by my local dealer, and my attention was caught by a sight just inside the door - the SuperTen.

I have to say I was impressed by the finish quality, and it does seem like a nice bike. I would certainly like to give one a try - maybe later in the year.

Anyway if you want to take a look at the bike and are in the Hampshire (Basingstoke) area then drop into Motts for a look.

Cool, looks a cracking bike. Just wish they'd made it bigger so I'd find it more comfortable then I'd seriously consider one. But for now I'm very happy with my GSA, and it's just about tall enough for me :thumb

Did you get to play about with all the settings on the Duke when you took it out? If so would you ever use the 100BHP mode in real life? What colour have you gone for?

So what's up with these dealers actually having the bike? When MCN covered the launch a few weeks ago, they said it would be sold exclusively online, with no test rides possible - just like the new V-Max. Which I thought was a recipe for selling no bikes. Yamaha have seen sense?
 
A very luke warm road test in this months BERK magazine. They tried to find some good things but seemed to struggle to be honest.

Looks overweight, overpriced and not in the same league as the GS in my opinion.
 
Motorcycle Monthly say that the Ten is a serious rival against the GS. I still can't get my head around why they don't compare it to the GSA :nenau Anyway, I saw the new Ten at CMC Chesterfield today, and I have to say it's really not a looker IMO. I don't care how good it might ride, I would always be disappointed opening up the garage door to see that bike. Unlike my GSA which puts a smile on my face every time.

But each to their own, not everyone likes the look of the GSA either, and I'm sure there'll be many happy Ten riders once they hit full production.

I've gone for the touring model in red - chose the colour because in my mind Ducs should be either yellow (bevelheads) or red :)

I had a test ride from Snells in Alton, and rode it up the A339 (?) a lovely curvy, twisty A-road, then some back lanes (B and C roads), followed by a final blast up and down the A31 dual carriageway. Apart from the initial 2 or 3 miles out of Alton I kept it mainly in touring or sport mode. The suspension is noticably softer in urban mode. The change from touring to sport is also clear - the suspension gets firmer, and the throttle action quicker. It is stunningly quick, and I quickly felt at home with the handling in the twisty bits - light, easy turn in, and once tipped in holds the chosen line accurately. I've read since that the engine can feel a bit lumpy at urban speeds compared to the GS, but I didn't have any problems. I've tried the KTM SMT and I found it awkward to ride at a steady urban speed as it is so quick to react to small throttle movements. I didn't have this sort of problem on the Duc whilst in urban mode.

I've also tried the 2010 GS with ESA - its an excellent bike but it didn't feel significantly better than my de-catted 04 GS with BOS can. Not £7.5k worth, which would have been the cost to change. I'd been waiting for the '10 GS, hoping that it would combine the engine character of my old Aprilia Falco (about 120bhp with Aprilia's race ECU and cans, and bags of torque from way down) with the stability and practicality of the GS chassis. From that viewpoint, the '10 GS was a bit disappointing but the Multi ticks all the boxes :thumb2
 
the yam is fookin horrible

cmc bikes in chesterfield have one in silver for sale, with the plastic looking metal boxes and plastic covers and plastic metal everywhere. its in silver and looks shit.

compared to my gsa, its nothing like, so dont even try, its like a suzuki or transalp in size, and looks shit

did i mention that, it looks shit

if your really interested go have a look, but take a carrier bag and some tissues, you will puke on it, horrendus looking thing.

NIce one, it'd be red or black for me. Glad you didn't say white ;)

TBH, I didn't really notice a difference. I could get my feet on the floor without a problem (didn't try enduro mode tho') and I've got a 31in inseam. On paper the Multi is a bit lighter than the GS, but I've stripped excess bits off my GS in any case (pillion seat, grab handles, crud catcher, stock exhaust) so there's probably not a lot in it.

A friend of mine has bought a white Mutli - I haven't the heart to say anything rude about it :augie
