I have just joined the forum and i have just replaced my old r1100rs with a 55 plate r1200gs, so far a great bike with new metzeler tourance tyres, any opinions on them? what are general recommendations for suspension settings for normal eveyday use twisty roads? Thanks

had them on mine, not a 12 tho, good tires, long life,a little hard though, trial attacks suit me better, more grip

The only time I ever noticed the tyres complaining was at 90 plus on those long bends on motorways........thats when you feel that you really need a road tyre......less sidewall flex methinks!

Lots on here advocate the Tourances and lots are now advocating Conti Road/Trail attacks, So I wouldn't worry about it.

See how you get on with them then when it comes time to change them, give something else a try if you don't like them.

I run Anakees at the moment but will change to the Contis at the next change :thumb

I think the Metzeler Tourances are the best tyre choice for the GS- Handle perfectly in wet and dry (you can really trust them in the wet) and no fears if there is gravel on the road (back lanes)- Scotland has a lot of this! Gravel, mud, sheep sh*t...the Tourances can handle it all... my back tyre (Tourances) last a good 4-6k and thats with full luggage, the front gets changed every other tyre change... Great stuff:bow
