New tyre comming

Pirelli are making the Scorpion Sync's for the 1200GS. I read about this a year ago in one of the bike mags, but I phoned Pirelli today & they told me that they should finally be available next month.
They are great tyres for road use,come std. on the Multistrada & I think on the KTM950 supermoto, They always receive great reviews for their grip.

guess they'll be stickier than BT 010's but last a fair bit less? They get a favourable mention in Bike's test of the new big KTM

Are these different to the Scorpions already in existance? Whats the 'Sync ' got that the normal Scorpions haven't?

Do we need stickier tyres? The cylinders will be grinding away before you exceed the grip of a dualsport tyre, let alone a sports one

I agree. Micheline Anakees are sticky enough for me, any more is a waste at the expense of longevity.

The Syncs are a totally different tyre/compound to the regular Scorpions.

IMO you can't have sticky enough tyres, providing they give a reasonable life, which on the Multistrada they did.

I agree however I think a lot of its psychological. What they like in the wet?

I had the non Sync version of the Pirelli Scorpions... They were okay... just okay... PROs: Good enough road grip, good enough wear, cheap... CONs: A bit loud, not great in the wet, a few slides...

The successors on my bike, BT020's are *much* stickier, *much* smoother on turn in, *much* more accurate for "spirited" road riding... If these "Sync" Pirelli's are anything like the 020's they be a vast improvement on the standard Scorpions... Or you could just get 020's, they'll still be the better road tire since even the Scorpion Sync's sacrifice full lean tread pattern coverage for the "Faux offroad" tread pattern look... like others have said, 020's offer as much grip as you'd possibly need, the only way the Pirelli's could get a foot in the door is if they last 7000miles..
