Any one debating tyre choice for your 1200 LC / 1250 for what its worth I had some Metzeler Roadtec 01's fitted to my new 1250 Rallye Te in place of the
OE Michelin Anakee Adventure's and it has transformed the bike.

By the way I am not slagging off the Michelin Anakee Adventures they are probably a very capable tyre, however I could not get my head around them probably due to issues with Michelin bike tyres I had many years ago and it never leaves your head I am sure many will relate to this.

From my prospective the Metzeler Roadtec 01's are quieter, smoother, super grippy, better feedback and less vibrations these tyres have made my excellent bike perfect.

its just a shame they are not available as an OE fitment when you order the bike

I have been trying to convince people of everything you have said for 2 years

Some say they are expensive and don't last very long in terms of miles on the bike, well if they keep my arse off the tarmac they are worth every penny, Personally I don't care if i had to change them every year.

A brilliant tyre designed for road use! Couldn't agree more :thumb2:thumb2

^^^^^^^^What he said. Done 8000 miles before I changed them for an other set. I don't go off road.

I am having some fitted tomorrow to my 790 duke.

I was out yesterday and the cheap OE maxis tyres that the bike comes on are just not confidence inspiring. Ive had three or four occasions where they have let go now.

All the forums and reviews have said what a great tyre they are :thumb2

I had Panicy 3's on both my previous LC's and while they never let me down they lacked feedback and for me were not confidence inspiring. The first set got changed at 7k for Metzeler Tourance Nexts the 2nd for Roadtech 01's. My local tyre fitter said anything would be an improvement over the Michelins and he was right. Fortunately this time round I've got Bridgestone A41s on this one and so far 250 miles in they seem very good for a dual purpose tyre.

They are good , but they squirm too much for me when pushing hard , two up even worse ( almost ruined an Italian trip , and yes the pressure were correct etc etc and almost changed them for anything but if time had allowed )
Conti TA3 , cant beat them , great from new , get hot even when cold roads sap heat and sure footed in whatever situation you push then into , and they don't squim , at all.
Out yesterday 2 to 5 degrees , gravel , wet , slippy bald patches , shit all over the place , never moved once even when hard over. They are that good.
To add the mileage is good as well , up to 3 500 out of set if in the uk , Spain 2 500 ish good value for the non commuter rider but not so good if not for pleasure only.

I've got them on my FJR - lovely for normal roads, wet or dry, but I find the front profile makes the bike a tad unpredictable on steep mountain passes in the Alps/Dolomites (RH uphill hairpins). It may be the longer wheelbase of the Yam, or the CG with a full load come to that. Sounds like they are OK on a GS - anyone with high mountain experience?

PS: seems stick shares my view - my FJR pushes the front wide sometimes; it's unpredictable though, not helped by elevation/temperature.

Did the Dolomites and as above they were pretty awful to be fair two up , tried them on the mountain roads around Wales as well , took them off after 500 miles as just could not get used to the weird feel , they did grip tho.
If you want a great tyre for a short trip in the twisty mountains 1st PR5 ( don't last long but stick like shit 1500 miles ) , followed by the CTA 3 (last longer but still stick like shit 2 to 2.5 K ish )

I agree, I have had them on my XR and on my GS. they are lovely at first but when pushed hard they give in and squirm, dangerously I have learned (twice)

so is that the tyres you have for sale with only 300 miles ,they dont look run in very hard

Yes that is them never felt comfortable with them and the steep profile means you would have the engine bars down before you get to the edge, read the reviews even pro testers couldn't get to the edge.

they not for me

I had Annakee3’s 3’s on the 1200...hated them, no feedback. Changed to Roadtec 01’s....massive improvement.

Now got a 1250gs, and the Annakee adventures came fitted as standard..... hated them too, so changed to pilot road 5’s (as tyre place didn’t have any roadtecs’s in at the time)
The PR5’s are fine... but am going to try Conti Trail attack 3’s next set (if/when we are allowed back out!)

Ride safe, (and stay safe indoors if you can’t get out...it will pass, and the roads will be re-opened)

Bubb

As an aside - I'm running my 4th pair of 01s on my RS12. Suit me fine.

Has been an annual event to fit in with summer trips mostly, but have been round Knockhill too.

I don't think I'll wear them out this year though :(

That’s bollox , they go edge to edge as I said great grip but the trade off with the feel is the shame . Better tyres out there imho of course
To add the pr5 has a steeper profile , those are harder to edge especially on nice cambered euro roads in the hills lol

Any of these tyres will give you all that and more also last longer as well.

I need to try the PST 2 but heard they are lacking in feel a bit , need to try first as many say they are good .
