New XChallenge :-)

One of the early recalls (non-critical) to the bike was to reposition the spirit level bubble because in it's original position you' d have to be 7 ft tall and 18 stone to manage it when level ...:D

Thanks for all the info, like I say I haven't got the handbook yet, I put the pump onto the connection as the salesman showed me, just to try to see how it works, it felt as though no air would go in and I would be really forcing it, the guage is showing couple of mm's below 100psi (92 was a guesstimate) am I doing something wrong? After reading on Advrider that if it is set too soft it will put a whole in it, made me think I don't want to pop the bloody thing!
I rode it 700kms home and then have been using it to commute to work and it feels ok to me, although I am far from experienced on these things!

Just to give you some context - on my HP2, I've ridden with the shock at everything between 5 and 9 bar and had zero problems. I'm pretty sure that the xChallenge has exactly the same unit so don't be afraid to try different settings and don't forget the dial for changing the damping (vertical for soft/off-roading, horizantal for hard/road riding)

Hope that helps :thumb2

Thailand Prices

You folk shouldn't complain too much. I am picking up a 5000KM used but immaculate XC and paying 7500 pounds for it! A new one is nearly 12,000 pounds. My HP2 also cost me nearly 20,000 new, three years ago! All due to high import tax here.

Just got back from an afternoon out on the new bike and I am still very impressed with it's road capabilities. I did some of my favourite twisties and it handled really well considering the type of bike it is and I am running MT21's. I did really miss the wind protection and heated grips of the GSA though......it was fecking cold out there!!!!

Just need to get it muddy now :D

Here's a screen for the road that goes on and off in 2-3 minutes and works on the XChallenge

Cheap too

Guys,

I know I'm remiss after the Heroes Legend but with a little application this will/can be made to fit the X Challange. Hope I can lift the picture. It worked very well on our bike in the rally.

Gettin on/off

I get on the bike while it is still on it's side stand. I put my left foot on the left foot rest then simply stand up and throw right leg over, then lean bike to right and flick stand up. Quick and easy:thumb2

Getting off the bike simply lean the bike slightly right and stand up on right leg, this allows the suspension to raise and gives sufficient clearance for the stand to swing down fully. Then lean the bike back over to the left, take up pressure on the stand and either swing right leg back over or reverse the "getting on" procedure... Stand on left peg and dismount, works for me anyway.

I'm just about 6' and weigh 13.5 st (or 85kg) so my theory is that as long as i'm not bouncing on the pegs while on the side stand then it ain't gonna do that much harm:nenau

DavidJames...local rides

Hi David, i'm fairly local to you, Arborfield, and know a few local lanes. They aren't massively long but if you got a couple of hours free and don't want to travel any distance they are just the job. They are all located within about a 5 mile radius of where I am and give a nice mix of muddy lanes and firm tracks. With a couple of fords to boot. Mind you one of them is dependant on recent rain fall:mmmm

I'm generally free most weekends and Wed/Fri afternoons.:beerjug:

I don't know about the XChallenge, but on the HP2 (which has similar height challenges) many people have bent or broken the stand mount. To the point that there is a guy in the US making up replacement stand units to mount the stand.

Are there similar issues on the XChallenge?

Sounds good - I will drop you a PM later this week about the weekend.

:(I hope not. I've not had any issues

David... sounds good to me. Sat would be better as it's my 30th on Sunday and I may not be in a state to do much!

:eek::eek::eek:

Quo,

That sounds horrific .... you could easily buy 2 XC over here - I'm visiting Bangkok late January for 5 nights on my way back home... :thumb

Doing the tourist thing after visiting Australia and New Zealand ...

Is anything cheap over there except 'ladyboyz' ... ......:D

After reading that most of you guys are running Pirelli MT21's, I had mine fitted this week. Pretty stable on the road, I was expecting alot worse, took the bike off road around Mayenne trails yesterday, bloody hell, they even make a complete novice like me look good!! :D

Yep - got mine muddy on Friday afternoon and had a complete blast:beerjug:

The tyres are great and as you say a complete novice can look and feel very confident.
