Heyup peoples!

My names Ant from the sunny old Wolverhampton, and Im considering purchasing an 1100 or 1150GS, or if finances allow, a 1200. as i do upto 50k a year commuting in all weathers

Now my problem is, im short, about 5'6" to 5'7" and i was wondering if anyone on here is that sort of size and succesfully rides a GS, maybe with a lowered seat etc.

After lurking around on here Ive found Wunderlich do an extra low seat, which includes the adventure, but how much higher is the adventure than the normal bike?!

Cheers

Ant.

loads, buy one, pref 11xx series,, adv couple of inches, unless ur a poser or goin off road buy a normal gs, better road manners,

Hi Ant,you are close to my location, welcome mate. Don't take any notice about what Digger06 says, Adventures aren't for possers, they are just bigger, look better, offer better wind protection, and you visit fuel staions less frequently. I have had both 1200GS and GSA.
To be honest though, I think a 1200 GS would be better suited to you, not as tall, and a fair bit lighter than the GSA. Whichever one you choose, I think you will enjoy, Ive ridden sportsbikes,Harleys, Offroaders, but whatever it is this GSA thing just gets under your skin. Best Wishes

Hi Ant, welcome to the site. One of the big deciding factors is how confident a rider you are, if you can do a full lock almost stationary u turn with your feet up, then you will manage on anything (see pic) If you come to the meeting tonight you'll see all models to choose from. One of the guys has an1150 with alloy road wheels which again helps to lower the height.

arse burgers.

bit late for me to see this now, otherwise i would of come along.

yeah confident on a bike, have to be with the mileage i do.

if you have these meets every month, then i'll come along next month :D

and cheers for the replies lads!

I'm 5'9" or so, and run my 1150GS with the seat in the high position out of choice. Doubt you'd have a problem if you're not intimidated by the size.

Try one before you buy, put a few miles on it.

I personally don't like it, so it's moving on.

You may love it, depends what you are used to and what you want it to do.

atb Red:)

Short Ar*e section,,,,,,

FWIW mate.

Vertically challenged- ish, 5' 7'' and manage life with an 1150 gsa.. Coming in to land and slow tight moves need to be 'considered' a bit more ,,but you soon get the hang of it ...

+1 on digger... 50k miles a year, then you def can't afford the 1200! You don't realise how many times it will go wrong mate...

You are probably better off with a £2-3k 1995-8 1100 with 30-50k miles on the clock. Saving a packet and getting something to go the distance...

1200? forget it, better off with Aprilia Craponord in reliability terms. I m serious! Sry to spoil your dream...

Welcome Ant. Have a look in the West Midlands section, we have another meeting place with some stunning scenery that's hard to beat. :thumb
