Hi guys,

Just bought a GS1150R this morning (2001) & 38,000 miles. Just a quick one, having changed from 750cc super sport I am not sure if I have a problem with the GS or not?

Basically, when changing gear and then releasing the clutch, the bike seems to dip down to the right and the rear also seems to wobble too!

Is the simply a characteristic of the breed? Never experienced it on any other bike?

Many thanks - Phil:)

When you say the "rear seems to wobble",do you mean that the rear wheel has play in it?.

use

the brakes to slow down not the gears a chain drive will be more forgiving than a shaft drive if you are too fast for that gear just my 2p

1150 engine braking is the bestest ever. Leave your brakes alone and hammer the gear box :thumb2

Well, put it like this:

  1. Pull clutch in
  2. change up or down
  3. release clutch
  4. upon releasing clutch (the bite) the front dips down to right
  5. then the front lifts and as it does, the a wave seems to go through the bike ending up at the rear, so its like the bike shakes its arse!!!
  6. This is all over in less than a second, i'd say

Thanks for the replies so far....:thumb I think I can forget about this one and just get used to it:D

Unfortunately, you have been spoiled by technology.
(assuming you have checked for worn or slack things)

Its a bit like being used to a posh ball point pen. Writes effortlessly and smoothly. You never give it a second thought until it runs out of ink.
Your 1150 is like going back to a quill and ink pot. You are more aware of the process of writing.
Pish at first, but when your used to it, and get it right, its a lot more rewarding.

That was a bit poetic for a Sunday morning eh ?

Incidentally, Ive never used a quill and ink. The idea just popped into me head.
