kiwi living in edinburgh
Hey guys. I'm a kiwi living in newtongrange. Midlothian.
Along with a tdm and bandit12 I have a not so trusty ratty r80 monolever scrambler.

Pics

Any way. I was going on a 6 week euro bike trip via stormin the castle rally. And had to limp into stormin'. So with a ferry the following day I had to find something else before I could start boozing. Thankfully I found a guy selling a bandit12 who would also allow me to store the not so mighty BMW at his.

Any way 10000 fault free miles later I'm back in Scotland.
So I need to do a gear box rebuild. Or better yet get some one else to do it.
I heard from a facebook group that a guy on here did them. Voyager??

Any way. Looking forward to some ride outs with the locals in the summer

Voyager could be your man, speak nicely to him

And welcome, like the bike (if it went)

You rang M'Lud ???

I'm just about to finish 'K80Matey's' R60/7 gearbox so I guess another won't come amiss.

Yours will be No. 21 ;).

I'll send you a PM, I'm not far from you as I'm West side of Edinburgh, next to the Airport.

Bob.

DOH :blast - He's not a subscriber so I can't send a PM.

I guess our Kiwi friend had better stump up £12 so that we can swap addresses :augie.

Unless someone who is a subscriber knows him and can act as go-between :nenau.

I'll await the call.

Bob.

yeah cheers for pointing me in the right direction

Contact made and PMs swapped :thumb.

Do you get a mug ??? No, I think that's me :augie.

I'll look forward to the bike, or preferably just the box, arriving.

The kettle will be on ;).

Bob.

cheers bob, ill see you on saturday ;)

Great place this, a couple of days to find and hopefully sort a gearbox rebuild.....
And local so no costly couriers and aggro with transporting a gearbox about.......................... :beerjug:

Where did you get the ammo boxes from please? Dimensions, type (50 cal) etc, would also be handy to know. Cheers

They are us army 20mm mortar Storage Box. They are 36 x 19 x 43cm. Which is around 20lts. There is also the 25 and 30mm boxes which are a bit bigger. I didn't want to go much wider that the heads. So these are perfect. No passengers though ;)

So, you live in Newtongrange Eh?

"Comfy?" Said the nurse.
" Nitton" said the patient.

Have you lived there long enough to understand it?

And Bob is,your man right enough!

hmmm clearly not lived here long enough,
i lived here 9 years ago for 2.5 years, then went back to nz with the mrs for 5 years,
then came back out a couple of years ago with a season skiing and some bumming around in europe in the campervan in between,
i get that people call newtongrange nitton, but dinnae ken how it relates to the nurse ;) (like my use of scots? ;) )

yeah looks like bobs going to sort me out, which is great, :D id rather leave it to an expert in this case, gear boxes have never been a strong suit,
any thing else mechanical i dont mind tackling though

I had a quick look at the bike after you had gone. That box sounds as though its got a really serious problem, I've never heard a noise like that before. It will be interesting to see what happened (I'll post pictures).

I was out with horses today and tomorrow I've got to sort out a neighbour's chainsaw before doing anything else but hopefully I'll make a start at getting the box out.

I'll report back on progress.

Bob.
