Hi All,
We are delighted to be able to do a bit of name dropping, but all in a good cause.
Subject to his rehearsals allowing him to get to us in time, Eric Richard is coming to the Distant Suns launch and has very kindly agreed to deal with drawing the raffle for our Motorcycle Outreach fund raising effort. He is a real fan of MoR.
For those of you who don’t know, Eric is an avid motorcyclist. From what I’m told he’s a damn fine rider and escapes out on one of his bikes as often as he can. He is a real bike nut and has amongst other things, a GS, a Ducati: 916 & MHR. A Guzzi: Cali/Longhi Sidecar & Spada Special. MV 750S……… It’s great to have a celebrity come to the launch, but so much better when they are a real biker and an all round good bloke too.
Eric, who is best known for his role as Sgt Bob Cryer in The Bill, has also worked in TV programmes such as Home Sweet Home, Made in Britain, Open All Hours, Games Without Frontiers, P'Tang Yang Kipperbang, Shoestring, and Holby City. In 1997 he was involved with producing a video called ‘Triumph – The best motorcycle in the world’.
He also does a lot of work in the world of theater with plays at the Royal Court Theatre and the Theatre Royal, Stratford East, as well as seasons with the Royal Exchange, Manchester, Birmingham Repertory Theatre, Sheffield Crucible Theatre and Paines Plough. In 2001 he appeared as Ebeneezer Scrooge in a production of Charles Dickens' 'A Christmas Carol' at the UCL Bloomsbury Theatre, London.
I’m told that he is really down to earth and his favourite topic of conversation is frequently, motorcycling. I hope you get the chance to meet him.
All the best,
Sam
