...the smallest, neatest, nicest replacement exhaust for a GS I've ever seen? Stainless 3 piece Y-piece, titanium can - weighs something like a loaf of bread...

Andrew (Aurelius) liked one so much he bought one on the spot - we went to fit it after finishing the service on the Adv...

...but, unfortunately, although his exhaust was obscenely clean...

...we couldn't shift the Lambda probe...

...so we re-assembled it, bought a new probe, and will fit it on Saturday...

All yours for $720 (show price - normally $800) About 400 GBP.

Interestingly, Andrew had got his header pipes ceramic coated, which made them look like brushed stainless...

...except they don't discolour - anyone know if this can be done anywhere in the UK??

Neil, I believe that to be the charcoal filter required to comply with US emission laws. Its certainly located convenient for the plugs that we have on our bikes.

But it could also be nitrous injection

Its the charcoal canister, required by US emissions regulations. Many owners remove them from their bikes, but I find it rather attractive.

ok so I understand that the black thing is a charcoal filter, but what is it filtering? Engine exhaust or rider/pillion exhaust?
Anyway whatever it is I want one, it looks interesting, will it be expensive?

It's a Kalfornia requirement. It connects to your fuel filler overflow pipe and stops any fuel vapour escaping into the atmosphere. I can get you one (black only) for $2300* plus postage...

Try doing a search on 'ceramic' ... and check out AdamZ’s post.

There was a link to a web site of a company who do all the hi-tech ceramic coatings for racing engines, they also list prices for bike exhausts.

My fuel filler overflow pipe is currently attached to the inlet vents on my Arai Tour X so I'll not be needing the charcoal filter thankyou. Is there anything else one can do with those spare wires it connects to?

put them into the same helmet vent as the fuel filler overflow pipe so that they occasionally touch together, making a satisfying spark, then fill your fuel tank to the very top and go for a ride.

...not sure how good an idea it is actually?... reading whatton63s post it would appear that the process will prevent the radiation of heat .....is this a good idea? ...where will the heat go?

...not technical enough to understand fully, but somethings not quite 'right'....
