Went with a mate yesterday to the Vosges for an afternoon bimble.....

5 hours later and a very nice trip log....

fast roads easy 130+ possible on many many sections when no traffic.

most roads are minor non tourist roads so no campers.

Very close to Colmar and Gerardmer.

We really enjoyed the Route des Cretes in July - much better than the B500 in the Black Forest IMHO :)

cheers... that's a weekend ahead sorted :thumb

no worries, it took us about 5 hrs of "spirited" riding inc a fuel stop and a coffee break. there will be 1 section about 700m that has loose gravel that they still have to roll in (imagine the bike on sand)

you will go thru some villages and town so pleanty of places to stop, we had a coffee break at a small hotel in middle of nowhere - you wont miss it as there is a set of temporary traffic lights outside it.

Thanks for posting this up.

I was down there last week on the way back from the Dolomites.

Lots of excellent roads in the area, for sure.

would you mind if i bothered you with a few questions about any areas or sights worth seeing when i'm over that way from 25th onwards this month? I enjoy not knowing where I am going from day to day with my girlfriend on the back, but sometimes it is handy to have a general idea!

Newcastle to probably calais, head east to Reims ish then into Swizterland then austria then up to prague then straight back due west (ish) to amsterdam for ferry back to newcastle. Two weeks lazy riding.
