I know that the subject of screens and buffeting has been done to death, but has any one tried Nippy Normans latest offering, the super high-wide screen? I am currently using one of their cockpit screens as the standard screen, and the secdem screen I bought, are very noisy. I don't want to waste another £89 on yet another screen to clutter up my garage.

Thanks in advance

Martin

I have a Nippy Norman High Wide Screen that was on my 1200- made a huge difference with zero buffeting and a lot less noise.

I'm going to have a go fitting it to my Adventure as the screen on this is little better than the stock 1200 one- it would be better if they didn't fit them stoopid little bits on the adjuster locking screws that stop the screen going all the way up...

If the Nippy's screen doesn't fit/ work then it'll be for sale on here.

I got the NN extra extra extra high screen, still get buffeted, gonna try makin me own Tobby's next.

wully AND Millard..., what ur seat position (low/high) and height etc? i would have thought the extra high wide would be better than the high wide screen tho.

Martin - did u get the extra high wide screen?

Seat height is 1.5" higher than std high + airhawk, so probly high plus 2".

I got hold of an MRA Vario screen last week and have been giving it a go.

It certainly helps with the head buffeting perfectly, but as a consequence, all of the turbulent air is pushed onto my shoulders and chest which defeats the object. (it's not as wide as the stock screen)

So......on reflection, I am going to go back to the stock GS screen which I have come to conclude is not a bad piece of kit - I can live with a bit of buffeting as this only comes into play on those dull motorway bits, but as most of my riding is not on motorways, the standard screen is fine for anything up to 80-85 mph.

I don;t want a fully faired tourer - had one before and it was great, but don;t want to turn the GS into one either.

The MRA will be sold and I might try the Touratech clip on defelector thingy if I can be bothered.

I'm on a standard seat set on the low position.

I'm 5' 9" on a good day...

Laminar lip

I hate wind in my face and with all my bikes have tried different things to reduce or eliminate it along with the buffeting. I moved from a 1150 adv to 1200 adv and while the screen was much better I needed to improve on it. I bought a super high and wide screen from Nippys in the hope it would work for me. It improved air over the top but is actually narrower at the top than the standard screen.....It was fitted and tried in the winter my shoulders got cold. It had to go..
Fitted a laminar lip from the states to origional screen and....... Perfect. No buffeting and wind on my face I am 6'2''. Has transformed the bike for me. I have the Nippy Normans screen for sale. Done 300 miles only.

I've got the NN high wide tinted screen. Its better than the OE one and I can cruise visor up at 70-80mph. Screen set at highest setting and seat on high pegs (Standard GS) I do find that the screen 'sqweeks' though - not too annoying and will try some rubber washers at some point.

I too have the NN patio door screen.

Works a treat with tobinators. I often forget that my visor is up as its quite windstill. 2 up is good too. In fact, so good, the missus wont let me take it off, as i sometimes ride without a screen altogether in the summer.

I do recommend it. You also get some screen cleaner stuff free, and it really does work well.

Here is a picture with the screen a little sandy so you can see what it's like...
