Yeah if the servos gone its £1400 for a new one (or Timolgra might have his unit he removed).

Or you could spend £100 and an afternoon and remove the servo part.

Yes I still have my low mileage unit which is now not needed by me but you're right it could be just removed although there needs to be some wiring loom changes as well.

It could be just a brake switch...........................

thanks for the advice,,,just a couple of questions ,,can the servo be removed and keep the abs???what made timolgra remove his servo???,,how do you check the fluid in the servo????anyway going out to check out the brake switch...cheers gord

Servo and ABS are all one unit, so no - if you remove the servo, you remove the ABS.

Hopefully its just a switch fault.

I removed mine prior to a trip across Mongolia and Central Asia this year, a failed servo would be the last thing I need from an 'Adventure bike'.

No you can't keep the ABS it's all part of the same unit as said.
Have you still got resistance at the brake lever?

If you have no rear brake light you need to begin by finding out why.
Looking at the brake light switch will tell you feck all unless the operating sprung lever has come adrift, can you hear the micro switch operating when you push the lever down.

I've no idea what BMW were playing at when they introduced this unreliable system:rolleyes:
