No further map updates for SP III

I thought I'd update my City Navigator v8 mapping for my SP III so I sent an email to Garmin support asking what is the latest version and how much - unfortunately I received the following response.

I'm afraid we do not have the mapping type for the street pilot III
anymore as all the unlocking codes are removed from the data base.

The latest that was available was the City Navigator 2009 version but
unfortunately this is not possible to obtain anymore.

So it looks as if I'll have to upgrade my satnav if I'm to keep up with the latest mapping....

I think it's called "built-in obsolecence".

Wonder how long before they do the same to my 2610?

I think the 2610 is also obsolete, I tried to update mine today as I'd found some roundabouts it listed no longer existed and vice versa. But it doesn't seem to be listed as having updates any more.

If anyone knows otherwise I'd be happy to hear it.

I've got a nuvi 250 and I can't see any updates for this on the garmin website - does this mean I need to buy another GPS

Earlier StreetPilots; SPIII and 2610 as well as the Quest (not Quest2) all run the non NT mapping. As stated above the last update for that was 2009, That's all Folks...

Quest 2, SP 2720, 2820, Zumos and Nuvis all run the NT mapping for which updates are available for the foreseeable future.
