I've had heideneau K60s fitted they lasted well were good enough off the blackstuff and ok on it. Unfortunatly they are unlikely to be available for the near to medium term due to factory problems. What are the alternatives and views on them?
There are many threads here on road tyres and the TKC 80 is a good if short lived off road tyre when used for the 50/50, 60/40 road/ off road. The K60 did the job well and lasted and I should have got 2 sets but didn't.:nenau

I'd suggest consulting one of the many many threads on here relating to tyres:blast

Tyres - Are they the new Oil?

I did however they are all refering to road use, here are a good portion of my riding is on dirt roads of varying quality if I wanted to ride on the road I would not be on a BMW:augie

....You are in Australia.

You are upside down.

The air in your tyres will be at the top, whilst ours is at the bottom. Any advice given here may well not apply.

But while you are on; How do you fill your bike up?

I'm prob not the best person to ask but I think the only alternatives in GS sizes are TKC's and (Metzler?) Saharas :nenau

I guess the other option would be to find a supplier that still has stock of the Heidies...............

I had mine shipped from Germany from HERE and Every Accessory HERE in the UK carries them.

Both companies would ship but feck knows what the cost to Aus would be?

The story I am getting here from the importer is that there is an issue between the German TUV (compliance/MOT) folk and that they have had ti installnew manufacturing equipment which has not gone well. He is not expecting to see nay tyres until mid to late this year and could sell a boat load. Mean while my rear is almost goosed.

The local fella's here invented anti gravity eons ago and it seems to apply to bikes as well as everything that bites and stings so we use a pump. They also perfected the unusual side ways gravity which makes the boomarang come back :D

Truly, a land of wonder.

G'day, cobber. :beerjug:

I was looking for one over here also, I went through all the dealers in the U.S. and finally found one in Alaska. I had it shipped to Southern California which was costly, but I have it mounted and it works fine. The store I bought mine from has now sold out. While I was searching I talked with a distributor in Ohio who had just returned from a dealer show, where he said he talked with an engineer from Heidenau who told him they would probably have tyres as soon as April.

I have 3 sets hidden in a secret location in Spain.......... sadly, myself, MasterBaker & Neil23 are heading to Africa in 2 weeks time and plan to have them fitted on the way down.
None of us have ever tried them before, but from your interest, can I take it that you are more than happy with them? I have ridden through 7 or 8 sets of Tourances in my previous bikes and am a little nervous of the thought of change.

For the riding I do they are the best that I have found they have now done 7000kms the front will be ok for a while but the back only has a couple of 1000 left in it it is squared off but I have done a couple of 2500kms runs on the Hay Plain and Highway to Phillip Island in amongst that they are good on gravel and loose stuff not as good as a TKC but are much better onthe black stuff. The front is noisey but I can live with that. Would fit another set tomorrow if I could get one. Enjoy Africa
