Sorry if this has been QandA'd before - I did do a search, honest.

I noticed this morning that the left-handers are not working and the light on the dash does not show them as working.

The right handers are ok.

What should I check first? (RTFM you cry in unison!)

First instinct says duff LH indicator button.Strip, clean and check it.
I presume you have checked that the bulbs are both not blown!.
If the RH ones work, the relay should be ok.(someone may correct me on that one).
Try swopping indicator connections nearside to offside and see if problem moves.
Good luck.

What bike is it on?

Do they work when you put the hazards on?

If it's an oilhead, or a later airhead, the indicator control unit is an electronic device, operating either side indicators, the hazards or pressing the cancel switch just tells the unit what to do by grounding the inputs into the microprocessor in the unit. That's why I asked if they work with the hazards on.

Further thought.Just noticed an old Steptoe comment in Mods section where he comments that he is regularly seeing broken wires to the handlebar switchgear caused by too tightly cable-tied wiring looms at the headstock.
Might be worth a look.

Cheers

Thanks for the responses - it's not the bulbs. I'll check the switches this weekend. If nothing there, time to get the professionals in!.
