No more 1200's

Launched this autumn, so no delay in obtaining a 12GS

Always the same format with BMW - Milan or cologne show in sept/oct

What I meant was the water cooled GSA on production this time next year mirroring the water cooled GS now so expect deals on accessories similar to the GS from May 2013 onward

ive been told that the adventure will be 2 years away the same as previous versions to encourage people to buy the less popular non adv.

Logically the WCGS13 will be released at the Cologne show as its home soil and then it will be available from March as its the new registratiion, possibly February. The WCGSA13 (Adventure) will be early 2014 as they're always twelve months or so after the smaller GS's.

You will be able to spec any new GSA as they are still on the production line for another 12 months or so but the smaller GS will all have been built and so limited spec as the WCGS13 will have replaced it on the production line.

Just my opinion:rob

Not bothered when they are out, just want to see a "real BMW" photo of one rather than the photoshop "shite" off the tinterweb :rob

Admin - can we please add a new category on the forum bike menu called 'Piss Pot' for the new WC? Hopefully that name will stick. :thumb

Delaying the Adventure seems strange when there's many that would not 'upgrade' to the standard GS but would for a GSA :nenau

Knowing how successful the Adventure version is why not develop/release it alongside the standard bike :nenau

Yep can't get my head round this policy.

I am looking to change in the near future to a GSA. So it probably won't be a 1250. I can't wait two years.

BMW do it with their cars as well. They wait at least a year before releasing the M models, but nobody knows why. They are one of the only manufacturers that I can think of that do this. It does seem odd.:nenau

Brand cachet

Desirability

Residual demand

New re-branded model awareness and anticipation

Family owned business, so they can make the rules

Happened with the 1150GS, launched in 1999 and the Adv model designate (as a new genre) came about at the Milan show in Sept 2002 (I was there), for a dealer launch later that Autumn

Thing is, if they release the GSA at the end of this year as well as the GS, they will get immediate sales, then another flurry of sales in 18 months to 2 years when warranties expire or are about to expire.

If they don't release it until 2014, then a lot of people who would upgrade this year will keep their bike until the new one, so effectively they are losing sales.:rob

Not too sure about the milan show in September 02, when I bought my first GS in August 02 the adventure was in the showroom (Southport superbikes )

That suits me ....... I'm not really interested in the new watercooled boxer so an end of the line Twin Cam with added free bling like they've done with the GS will do me fine :thumb

Ahh, perhaps it was Milan Sept 2001................senility is a cruel master:rob
