No more Varios

320 quid! Did you ask them if they like sex and travel?
They seem very keen to promote the pay monthly Service Plans so I wonder if (as part of the piss-take) they inflate the normal prices to make the plans look attractive.

The mothership seem to be taking the piss not only with bike stuff but also on the car side of the things. Quoted £320 for an oil and filter change (6 year old, 3 series) and it’s not even due for another six months. Also tried to convince me it needs a brake fluid change when it was done less than a year ago.
Oh, and it’s not an oil filter “ it’s a micro-filter sir”.
Micro filters are the Aircon filters and they are expensive.
Not sure what car service cost has to do with vario panniers though :) .

SW motech do a set 37 ltr , best part is they have removable carriers so you don’t look like a scaffolding lorry lol . Ordered a set as prefer the top loader but thought would get the set as the top box is good and always useful for re sale .

Hi Stick

Have you got the Trax panniers yet ? I have question or two :D

Yes, 1300 specific I’m afraid

It’s hard to tell from photos but they look to sit quite high and a bit forward, I need to know if they are going to be a problem for the pillion

if you have any opinions on them in general though I’m interested (y)

One thing I can say is they definitely sit higher and forward on a 1250 so I suspect similar on a 1300. My missus is 4ft7 and had no problem at all, but she preferred when I mounted them using the original racks and adapter plates.

They will likely sit very high by comparison, several inches I’d guess.

Sorry can’t answer as not ordered yet , I did see a You tube clip which may give you a better view .

Ordered a pair of Touratech Zega Evo 38/38 in black

Basically the improved version of what I’ve had on the 1200 for the last 8 years but with no exhaust cut out, they’re symmetrical on the 1300
The removable frames are a winner for me as hated the scaffolding on the 1250 .. only my view mind as I’m a bit vain

That was attracting me too, I had quick detach Givi racks on my Crosstourer and they were brilliant, it’s definitely a great feature

I’m not keen on the scaffolding either but the Trax look to sit a bit high and forward, I ride mostly with a pillion so that’s critical for me

I also preferred the mounting system and the lid catches on the TT compared to the Trax or Wunderlich but it was close run, of course that’s just my personal preference too

Anyway, I leave my top box on permanently so I’m well past any semblance of vanity

I do a few trips a year 2 up with one a Euro Tour , I had thought about the space but comparing both the TT and the Motech they looked similar as far as I could tell .
Before I have always used the additional top bags on the Gs and never had a moan about space , in fact she mentioned cosy lol , but she is very mobile .

Anyone got a top box for the R1300gs they would like to sell as mines not arrived yet and would like to use one as I like it . Long shot I know..

That Bloody BMW new top box wont fit one of their helmets in it! Who in a shirt and tie designed that.
