Whats that black rubber thing with stripes on it wrapped around the pump?. I don't have that on my pump, and it looks like it's too bulky to fit in the pump mounting correctly.

Have you tried removing it then offering up the gauze strainer (which also looks different to mine anyway)

Black sleeve came with pump, fits perfectly into the mount and feels fine. What doesnt fit is the strainer once the rubber sleeve and pump is in place….
I have feel its the wrong part for the bike and its also only 38 mm instead of the original 43 mmm…… and you have to change the wiring as well…..
might as well order a new one with 43 mm and the screws as the original rather then soldering around. Thats a job that should take half and hour..
:blast

Is it not just a push fit over the hole at the end of the pump, The way you have it in the last photo?
Or does the metal lip get it the way

I too fitted an after market fuel pump which came with a rubber sleeve. I left this on and everything fitted ok. However several months later I found the rubber had split and come away, probably eroded by the petrol. This I suspect could have blocked the fuel flow into the pump.
I would recommend that this is taken off. The fuel strainer should be a push fit...

Yep, metal mount does not allow the strainer to be fitted correctly….
have ordered new pump with screw fittings and 43 mm exaxctly as standard pump….
this one is 38 mm and need this sleeve...

Right chaps, all sorted, it was wrong pump and i have the correct one fitted and up and running, thanks to all for the support…Cheers
